The Fine Lab The Fine lab is a Neuro-oncology research group that makes use of complex 3D human brain tumor models (GLICOs: ********************************************* ********************************************* to perform translational research into glioblastoma. We are a diverse, multinational and interdisciplinary team (MD/PhDs, cell/ molecular biologists, veterinarians & bioinformaticians) with a vibrant research and training environment in the Tri-Institutional Campus of New York City. The Role The successful candidate will be trained to work with embryonic stem cell-derived cerebral organoids interfaced with tumor stem cell biology, to facilitate High Throughput drug screenings. They will be a key personnel of the incipient Starr Foundation Cerebral Organoid Translational Core and will report to its supervisor. In achieving this goal, the candidate will have the opportunity to perform, and receive training in, a wide range of laboratory techniques including: reprogramming of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), embryonic and induced pluripotent stem cell culture, the generation and culture of cerebral organoids and tumor organoids and the use and development of cell based assays to test novel therapeutic drug candidates, and cutting edge gene editing and molecular biology techniques. The Lappalainen & Sanjana Labs at the New York Genome Center (NYGC) are looking for a motivated individual to work as a Postdoctoral Research Associate within a highly creative and dynamic research team of scientists, computational biologists, bioengineers, and human geneticists. The successful candidate will be jointly mentored by Drs. Tuuli Lappalainen and Neville Sanjana at the intersection of statistical genetics and functional genomics analyses and tech development and have the opportunity to also be affiliated with New York University. About the labs The Sanjana lab works at the intersection of genomics and bioengineering. We are curious about many things and are passionate about what we do. We primarily develop new technologies for hacking and understanding biological systems. We try to learn from nature and to re-purpose what we learn to gain deeper insights into how genomes and neural systems function. In the lab, we modify genomes, perform high-throughput screens, differentiate human neurons from stem cells, watch synapses rewire, find vulnerabilities in cancer cells and have a lot of fun in the process. We aim to have a tangible impact on improving human health by creating new biological tools and fundamental biological discovery. Salary The pay for this position is $88,000; this includes $70,000 base pay and an $18,000 per year taxable housing allowance. The Enterprise ML Research Lab works on the front lines of this AI revolution. We are working on an arsenal of proprietary research, tools, and resources that serve all of our enterprise clients. As an Agent MLRE, you will be working on applying our Agent RL Training + Building algorithms to real life enterprise datasets across our clients + benchmarks. This will involve creating best-in-class Agents that achieve state of the art results through a combination of post-training + agent-building algorithms. You will: Train state of the art models, developed both internally and from the community, to deploy to our enterprise customers. Research cutting edge algorithms to integrate directly into our training stack. Build agents that leverage our proprietary agent-building algorithms to automatically hill climb datasets - including defining highly performant tools, multi-agent systems, and complex rewards. Ideally you'd have: 1-3 years of building with LLMs in a production environment Experience with post-training methods like RLHF/RLVR and related algorithms like PPO/GRPO etc. Publications in top conferences such as NEURIPS, ICLR, or ICML within the last two years PhD or Masters in Computer Science or a related field Compensation packages at Scale for eligible roles include base salary, equity, and benefits.
