Overview Responsibilities

The Research and Correspondence Department is seeking an Operational Path B Supervisor to replace an open position. The position primarily oversees Committee Appeals to the Board of Trustees by making sure they are handled correctly, written up properly, and responded to accurately. The position is also responsible for all aspects of supervising a team of 8-10 Analysts who work on both Path A and Path B. This includes meeting individually and as a team on a regular basis; training, developing, evaluating and disciplining staff as needed; and all administrative work associated with supervising staff. This position will participate on and lead special projects/assignments as needed and participate in departmental supervisory responsibilities. The position will always represent the department in a positive and professional manner.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will be positive, encouraging and approachable. S/he will have a proven track record of success supervising teams. S/he will be detailed, efficient and organized in work, experienced in speaking to large and small groups, and will be comfortable navigating technology to work in a hybrid environment. The successful candidate will have exceptional skills in written and verbal communication, time management, leadership and critical thinking. Knowledge of the Health & Welfare Plans and Fund operations strongly encouraged. Understanding of medical terminology is a plus. High school diploma required; college degree preferred.

Our work yields actionable information to guide decisions in wide-ranging policy areas, from health, education, early childhood, and family support to nutrition, employment, disability, and international development.

We are seeking part-time, temporary nutrition research supervisors for a nationwide childcare nutrition study that is assessing the nutritional quality and cost of meals provided in child care. /Nutrition research supervisors will monitor the activities of nutrition research associates who will be reviewing completed menu surveys to identify missing data and follow up with child care providers to retrieve this data. Nutrition research associates and supervisors will also be responsible for finalizing both dietary recall and menu survey data in a nutrient coding system. Nutrition research supervisors will assess their productivity and accuracy, and work with project staff to resolve issues that arise during the process./

Positions start in early February 2023 and will likely last through June, with the possibility of continuing work on other study tasks for additional months. Positions require a minimum commitment of 30 hours per week, and scheduling is flexible between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. All work will be completed in-person in our Cambridge office, located between Harvard and Central Square in Cambridge.
