The research technician position in Dr. Pere Puigserver's Lab will assist scientists in performing scientific research of varying complexity. Duties include working with laboratory mice and conducting basic molecular biology and cell biology techniques. Basic procedures include but are not limited to: pipetting; cell and tissue culture, handling of small laboratory animals, etc. There will be continuous learning opportunities and the position will be a good stepping stone for those interested in biomedical research.

Assisting postdocs and students with cell based assays, which will involve maintenance of cell lines, isolation of primary cells from mouse tissue, and flow cytometry.

Assisting with biochemical techniques such as protein purification and quantification, enzyme assays and metabolite measurements.

Assisting with molecular biology techniques such as plasmid purification and bacterial transformation.

Maintenance of Puigserver Lab animal (laboratory mouse) colony, including weaning, tail biopsies, DNA preparation and genotyping by PCR.
Maintenance of Puigserver lab animal protocols. Placing orders for the purchase of lab consumables.

To participate as a technical member of a large, clinical research laboratory to perform assays following established protocol, validate new assays, reduce data, update Quality Control (QC) systems, receive shipments of frozen samples, and maintain frozen blood sample repositories with supervision from the Principal Investigators and Senior Staff.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

A Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field and two to three years of experience to include knowledge of hematology/coagulation assays, ELISAs, and quality control procedures. Working knowledge of technology and word processing, spreadsheet, database applications required. Demonstrated ability to work independently with attention to detail.

Desirable Qualifications

Some background in biochemistry, or a clinical environment helpful. Experience with MSD or Luminex panel assay formats highly desired. Experience with Good Lab Practice regulations and BioSafety Level II regulations is preferred. Knowlege of MS Office Suite applications desirable.

Your Opportunity
In this role you will supports the completion of projects through preparation and execution of Process Laboratory and Benchtop experimental runs, configuration of equipment, equipment sanitation, clean up and housekeeping.
