quantum machine learning

Our research group is focused on developing state-of-the-art computational methods for ligand/drug discovery, using machine learning, high-performance/cloud computing, and quantum chemistry and quantum computing. Our group also includes a wet lab dedicated to experimentally verifying the computationally predicted results in real-world drug discovery projects.
You will join an interdisciplinary team to push the boundaries of what's possible at the intersection of artificial intelligence and molecular modeling, building novel AI systems to advance discovery in chemistry, ligand discovery, and quantum approaches.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead collaborative projects, mentor junior scientists and students, and contribute to high-impact publications. The position can be a Postdoc position or a Computational Researcher position, depending on the preference of the candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and optimize quantum machine learning methods for problems in molecular modeling (e.g. drug discovery and/or quantum chemistry)
Collaborate with computational chemists, structural biologists, and experimental scientists within the QAI4Bio Lab and the broader Structural Biology Department.
Collaborate closely with domain scientists to define impactful research directions and translate theory into practice
Contribute to large-scale computational pipelines for tasks such as molecular property prediction, drug discovery, or quantum circuit design
Publish high-quality research in top-tier journals and conferences
Work with colleagues to deploy models into production research platforms or scientific software tools
Required Qualifications:
Proven hands-on experience (3+ years preferred) in quantum computing and quantum machine learning research and development
Proficiency in deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
Proficiency in quantum computing frameworks such as Qiskit, CUDA Q, Pennylane, ...
Excellent programming skills in Python.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary environment
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD in Computer Science, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Expertise in quantum chemistry
Demonstrated expertise in applying geometric deep learning to 3D data, such as experience with: Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) for molecular graphs, deep learning on 3D point clouds or volumetric data for molecular structures, and/or understanding of molecular descriptors and featurization for deep learning.
Familiarity with molecular modeling software (e.g., RDKit, OpenBabel) and/or structural biology concepts is highly desirable.
Experience with cloud or HPC environments and GPU-based training pipelines
Record of publications in AI/ML and physical sciences journals or conferences
Familiarity with quantum/chemistry software

JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Research Associate contributes to a research project focused on investigating signaling pathways and neural circuits that influence motivational states associated with chronic alcohol tolerance, dependence, and related comorbidities. The work will primarily utilize Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans), an invertebrate model system for studying alcohol dependence.
EDUCATION: Doctoral Degree. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of research experience. Must have completed three (3) years as a Postdoctoral Scholar.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge and skills specifically involving the analysis of alcohol-related behaviors in C. elegans (e.g., locomotion, chemical seeking, etc.) will be considered a significant advantage.
Peer-reviewed, original research article publication(s) as first author using molecular techniques, and behavioral analysis of C. elegans on the study of neuroadaptation, are required.

Key Responsibilities:

Chief responsibilities include gynecologic oncologic surgical care of patients along with outpatient and inpatient consultation. This position is also responsible for training medical students, Residents, and Fellows. This position includes the opportunity for protected research time, and successful applicants are expected to both participate in and serve as site Primary Investigators on clinical in the Department of gynecologic oncology. There is also the opportunity for collaboration with other investigators in an exciting clinical research environment. This Physician will provide care in a clinic setting, offering state-of-the-art surgical options to patients (access to over 12 robotic Xi) to treat both malignant and benign diagnoses. The ideal candidate will be board certified/board eligible and possess excellent clinical and surgical training. Specifically, the Memphis Zoo is seeking a candidate with experience in amphibian ecology, field biology, and conservation.
Purpose:
The purpose of this Research Technician is to assist in Memphis Zoo's efforts towards amphibian conservation. Working with the Amphibian Conservation Postdoc, the Research Technician will largely focus on the dusky gopher frog recovery program, which is one of Memphis Zoo's top-tier wildlife conservation priorities, with opportunities to be involved in a wide range of research projects in the Amphibian Lab. We seek candidates who are passionate about amphibian conservation and eager to apply their skills to contribute to both in situ and ex situ conservation and research (See Memphis Zoo website and list of of recent publications).

Essential Job Functions:
Assist with planning and execution of conservation and research projects, specifically working with the dusky gopher frogs (Lithobates sevosus), which is a flagship conservation species at the Memphis Zoo.
Assist with in situ conservation and research efforts, including but not limited to logistical planning, field surveys around Memphis and in southern Mississippi (aquatic and terrestrial surveys, multi-day trips), data curation and processing, etc.
Participant in short (2-4 days) monthly trips to the field site and occasional longer trips (~3-4 weeks) during the spring/summer months, depending on data collection and experimental design.
Assist with ex situ conservation and research efforts, including but not limited to behavior and morphological assessments, running laboratory assays, captive-breeding, in vitro fertilization, etc.
Work with collaborators at local universities.
Prepare permit applications and reports.
Contribute to scientific manuscripts.
Mentor students and volunteers.

Chief responsibilities include gynecologic oncologic surgical care of patients along with outpatient and inpatient consultation. This position is also responsible for training medical students, Residents, and Fellows. There is also the opportunity for collaboration with other investigators in an exciting clinical research environment. This Physician will provide care in a clinic setting, offering state-of-the-art surgical options to patients (access to over 12 robotic Xi) to treat both malignant and benign diagnoses. The ideal candidate will be board certified/board eligible and possess excellent clinical and surgical training. A Scientist or Associate Scientist position is available for a highly motivated data scientist with a background in Computational Neuroscience to analyze complex time-series data from ongoing 2-photon microscopy experiments and animal behavior studies. This position is well-suited for an individual interested in transitioning from a postdoctoral position to a more stable, long-term position.
The successful candidate will lead an independent research project dedicated to identifying abnormal neuronal activities in circuits of murine models of 22q11.2 and 3q29 deletion syndromes, two rare conditions that confer the highest genetic risks of schizophrenia.

Summary Description: Position will be responsible for overseeing and executing the process design and manufacturing of monoclonal antibodies, polyclonal antibodies and recombinant proteins products and services sold into IVD industry. The Senior Manufacturing Process Scientist will possess ‘hands-on' experience with various forms of chromatography (affinity, ion exchange, HIC, etc.), centrifugation, TFF/DF/UF, cell culture and fermentation. Experience with aseptic techniques particularly useful in the areas of eukaryotic cell culture, bacterial and yeast fermentation. The individual must be capable of executing and authoring Master Batch Records and Standard Operating Procedures in compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices. This position will supervise Production Technicians. Duties: o Perform bio separation of recombinant proteins, monoclonal/polyclonal antibodies. Bioseparation methods to include, but not limited to, preparative centrifugation, TFF filtration, and chromatographic methods (ion exchange, size exclusion, affinity, etc.). o Familiar with In vitro cell culture of monoclonal antibodies and fermentation of recombinant proteins. o Develop and perform various analytical protein methods for process monitoring and characterization of in-process and final product. The methods to include but not limited to SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, ELISA, UV-VIS, and Immunoassays methods. o Assess feasibility of contract manufacturing cell culture and purification opportunities, participate in development of proposal and costing estimates. o Author master batch records and SOPs for transferred/developed process in compliance with all current GMP regulations and company SOPs. o Train Production Technicians in upstream and downstream manufacturing processes. o Develop strategies to improving yields and reducing overall manufacturing costs. Investigate alternative materials or new process equipment to improve efficiency. o Write and execute validation protocols for new and existing manufacturing processes. o Assist with the writing of technical reports, customer proposals, and product release specifications
Qualifications
Required Qualifications: o Ph.D. with 3+ years of industrial experience or MS with 6+ years of industrial experience in a GMP or GLP environment. o Extensive knowledge and hands on experience of protein purification and characterization. o Experience with virus like proteins and viruses a plus. A knowledge of AKTA Unicorn software and disposable systems a plus. o Hands on experience with in vitro cell culture and recombinant protein fermentation o Ability to independently apply bioseparation basic theory and scientific principles to conduct downstream process development for proteins. o Proven experience with process scale-up procedures. o Extensive knowledge and hands on experience with protein analytical methods including (SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, ELISA, BCA, UV-VIS, HPLC methods etc). o Concise and accurate oral and written reporting of technical including batch records, SOPs, validation protocols and customer proposals. Requirements (Physical, Mental, Environmental Demands): o Ability to walk up and down several flights of stairs throughout the work day in a multi-location facility. o Must be able to concentrate, analyze and solve complex issues throughout the course of the work day. o Ability to work on a PC including repetitive use of a keyboard and mouse for long periods throughout the course of the work day. o Ability to sit for long periods of time, stoop, reach, bend throughout the course of the work day. o Must be able to lift up to 30lbs. multiple times daily. o Must be able to travel by air/car to other locations of MBI as needed. o May be required to work outside normal business hours including evenings and/or weekends to support business needs.

The project includes studying the effects of oxidative stress on the physiological functions of cerebral vessels. Neonatal pigs are used as a clinically relevant large animal model of cerebral vascular disease and blood-brain barrier disruption caused by epileptic seizures and hypoxia-asphyxia. Placing particular emphasis on endogenous antioxidant cytoprotective mechanisms in the neonatal brain. Combine intravital microscopy of the brain vasculature with cellular-molecular studies in cerebrovascular myocytes, endothelial cells, and astrocytes to identify the mechanisms of neurovascular survival during oxidative stress.
