The Research Scientist will advance cold spray deposition science and technology, supporting the Department of Defense-funded initiatives in areas such as structural repair and expeditionary manufacturing. The position involves process development, material compatibility studies, performance validation, and integration of CSAM components into defense platforms. This role will also represent the University of Tennessee in collaborations with government and industry partners, mentor students, manage cold spray infrastructure, and contribute to the technical leadership of the UT Defense Research Center. FC Renew, LLC, is an early-stage deep tech development company enabling the hydrogen transition and accelerating electrification of essential hardware and systems for defense and commercial use. Our core technology is a life-extension renewal process for proton exchange membrane hydrogen fuel cells for transportation applications that extends their lifetimes by 6x while creating a 5.3x reduction in total cost of ownership. The candidate will be able to make research contributions in areas of system software architectures to support secure computing enclaves on large scale HPC and supercomputing resources. The candidate will also contribute to the development of large-scale identity and key management solutions.
