Sony AI is seeking highly motivated, self-driven individuals with expertise in machine learning research. We're looking for smart, enthusiastic people who want to join our team of world renowned researchers as we push the boundaries applying AI in support of human creativity.

In this role, the successful candidate will lead our groundbreaking project from the perspectives of machine learning technology.
Roles and Responsibilities:

Lead research programs applying machine learning to our flagship project Supervise a team of research scientists and engineers Formulate real world problems into machine learning problems Investigate new algorithms and approaches to solve AI problems Write code to support research, usually in python Write reports and give presentations for internal audiences Write papers for, and give presentations at academic conferences

Skills & Experience:

Background in machine learning (PhD in related area) and relevant work experience with a proven track record of developing working systems, academic publications, patents, and/or open source software Experience with the state of the art machine learning methods including graph neural networks, reinforcement learning and generative adversarial networks Extensive experience post degree Experience to lead a team of more than 5 research scientists or engineers Knowledge of large scale analogue circuit development is a big plus Experience to solve interdisciplinary problems Management experience is a plusA track record of implementing software in Python with major machine learning frameworks Excellent oral and written English. German and/or Japanese language skills are a plus.

The ability to deliver on tight deadlines and adapt to evolving or changing requirements Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, and willingness in learning Japanese

The Data Science and Machine Learning team at Lucid is on the mission to design, develop, and deploy AI solutions to help make safe and sustainable products and services on par with Lucid's Luxury brand. Our mission is to provide best-in class services and products to help the company uncover actionable insights using AI and analytics and provide awareness across various product lines.
As Sustainability research scientist you will lead the product sustainability initiative by identifying and implementing the state-of-the-art green mobility and transportation sustainability solutions. You will be collaborating with engineering, design, marketing, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to evaluate and implement sustainable processes in the company.

Location is flexible in California and Oregon.

The RoleDevelop, maintain, and improve Lucid's carbon emissions forecasting models Create and manage complex environmental databases and actionable sustainability dashboards Generates the Lucid's yearly greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory.Perform Life Cycle Cost Assessments (LCA) and carbon accounting Design and carry out research with attention to detail, collect/organize/report results and carry out subsequent studies to further the progress of the program.Write sustainability specifications, design standards, and healthy materials performance requirements in close collaboration with design teams.Work with product, commercial and marketing teams to define technical goals that will support the company to meet business objectives.
QualificationsPhD degree in environmental science, civil engineering, Mechanical engineering or related STEM field.3+ years of research or industry experience working with carbon accounting, GHG inventories, LCA, circular economy, and/or sustainability consulting Proficient in GaBi, SimaPro, and/or OpenLCAProficiency in Excel (VBA), SQL, Tableau/PowerBI and familiarity with python programming language.Professional credentials such as the Life Cycle Assessment Certified Professional (LCA CP) preferred Proven track record of publications in the transportation sustainability is a plus Excellent communication, written and presentation skills.

Investigates, analyzes and reviews Artificial Intelligence (AI) Analytics for the research, development, and realized solutions to support the exploitation of the extraordinary volume and variety of Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) communications and Cybersecurity. Analyzes data and creates research prototypes.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
The Level 3 Research Scientist shall possess the following capabilities:
Under supervision, research and develops technically complex AI efforts
Performs research, design, development, and implementation activities for technically complex AI efforts under the routine direction of more senior technical staff
With minimal supervision, resolves complex AI technical problems by applying advanced principles and Research and Development (R&D) techniques Resolves complex AI technical problems by applying advanced principles and Research and Development (R&D) techniques
Resolves highly complex AI business and managerial problems.
Develops and applies advanced methods, theories, and Research and Development (R&D) techniques from a variety of technical specialties for complex and difficult AI problems.
Directs the efforts of a team of engineers or scientists to achieve the objectives of AI projects or tasks
Qualifications: Fifteen (15) years' experience and a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or other Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) field or thirteen (13) years' experience and a Master's degree or ten (10) years' experience and a PhD
