The Research Associate 3 (RA3) will plan, organize, and conduct highly independent research under the direction of the Histopathology Microscopy Core Director. The RA3 is responsible for the scientific operations of the laboratory and may train and supervise junior level staff members. The RA3 will manage and perform Histology Technician duties for the Core lab to include tissue processing, sectioning, advanced detection, imaging, and analysis of gene and protein dynamics in cellular models and normal and cancer tissues from research animals or from patients for all cancer researchers, as well as histochemical and immunohistochemical methodologies to determine protein expression, localization and interactions between viral and cellular proteins. The RA3 is expected to analyze, summarize and organize collected data, purchase supplies and, recommend purchase of new equipment for research projects. The RA3 may also draft, edit, and/or publish results in professional journals.

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Ocean Biofluids Lab led by Dr. Kevin Du Clos at Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium (LUMCON) seeks to hire a Postdoctoral Research Associate for an NSF-funded research project exploring the roles of understudied gelatinous organisms in marine food webs. The primary research focus of the lab is understanding interactions between marine organisms and their physical fluid environments, using imaging and numerical modeling techniques. The successful applicant will collect and analyze data from field and lab-based imaging systems to constrain the feeding rates of three groups of gelatinous marine predators-siphonophores, hydromedusae, and cydippid ctenophores-that use tentacles to capture their prey. The position will be based at LUMCON's Blue Works facility in Houma, LA with some travel to the DeFelice Field Station in Cocodrie, LA required. There will be opportunities for out-of-state travel for field work (Hawaii and Washington State), conferences, etc. and to work with collaborator Dr. Kelly Sutherland (University of Oregon). The postdoc may also occasionally be asked to assist Dr. Du Clos with plankton field sampling, processing image data, and mentoring undergraduate interns. In partnership with people leading and working in the local justice system, city leaders, and community organizations, we are working to end unnecessary detention and develop innovative, collaborative projects that improve the delivery of justice in New Orleans and throughout Louisiana. Vera Louisiana is seeking a part- or full-time (21-35 hours/week) summer Research Intern to provide a wide range of support for our ongoing projects, including jail population reduction, increasing investment in thriving communities, and addressing Louisiana's carceral impact in multiple parishes and at the state legislature. The Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy within the LSU Health Sciences Center is a large Basic Science department with a strong commitment to both academics and research. The department employs approximately 40 faculty, unclassified, classified, graduate students and other support staff. The incumbent in this position will work under minimal supervision by a senior faculty member on various research projects utilizing techniques and skills according to the project's protocol. The focus of the lab is to understand the functioning of the autonomic nervous system, in particular how it interacts with the immune system. The primary duties will involve histochemical analysis of neural tissue, biochemical measurements of hormone levels, weigh and anaesthetize small laboratory rodents, maintain records relative to physical condition and dissect, collect and prepare tissue samples for experiments.

The Research Associate 3 (RA3) will plan, assist, and conduct highly independent research, upon approval of the Principal Investigator, working on the project titled ‘Viral Oncolysis of Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma”. Scott Cancer Center is seeking a Research Associate 3 (RA3) to plan, assist, and conduct laboratory experiments on the research project "A Mechanistic Study to elucidate the role of Protein S in elevating the risk of Thrombosis in Obese, Pre-menopausal women”. The RA3 will visit various clinics and collect /draw blood from study participants, isolate plasma, perform immunoblotting and various coagulation assays using Spectrophotometer, and conduct protein purification using HPLC , FPLC techniques.
