    The Senior Materials Scientist is responsible for developing new polymer formulations, working closely with internal functions like Technical Service, Sales, Marketing, Product Management and Manufacturing, and external customers.     OBJECTIVE The Moffitt Lab focuses on neuromodulation with a focus on photobiomodulation, with research activities including pre-clinical behavioral, electrophysiology, and computational modeling experiments. Further, translational of ideas and concepts to commercial entities is a focus of the lab. The Research Associate will execute research and translational projects to better understand photobiomodulation effects, related mechanisms, and therapy opportunities. Under the guidance of the PI, the Research Associate is expected to work independently, design and plan projects, drive collaborations, supervise students, manage animal models, and carry out research and translational activities of an assigned project through completion. The Research Associate will be skilled in at least one of the following domains, and ideally multiple: preclinical behavioral work, electrophysiology, computational modeling, clinical work, early-stage product development processes to support translational efforts. The Research Associate will be required to use laser and light equipment in the lab, and to fulfill training requirements for safe use of the same. The Research Associate will keep the PI informed of progress on projects and provide recommendations on experimental design. The Research Associate will also present data and findings at lab and scientific meetings, seminars, etc., prepare manuscripts, and contribute preliminary data for grant proposals. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Plan and execute engineering activities and research experiments designed by the principal investigator and/or the Research Associate. Oversee progress of the projects and provide regular progress reports to the PI. Provide project updates during lab meetings.
