The successful candidate will work on designing future experiments aiming at measuring Double Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering at Jefferson Lab, in Hall A with the SoLID spectrometer and in Hall C in a dedicated setup. Our group is currently developing GEANT4 simulations and making physics projections. Our goal is to improve the design of the SoLID muon detector and preparing a proposal for a dedicated experiment in Hall C. If the candidate has experience with data analysis in the GlueX collaboration, we will consider the possibility to analyze data in support to the Generalized Parton Distributions program. The successful candidate is expected to work closely with our collaborators, including other postdocs and students. The position will be based full time at Jefferson Lab, Newport News, VA. Central State Hospital (CSH) is a 277 bed Joint Commission accredited psychiatric inpatient facility located in Petersburg, Virginia. CSH has proudly been serving citizens of the Commonwealth since 1870, when we opened our doors as the first psychiatric hospital in the country dedicated to the treatment of African Americans. A new and modern CSH is currently under construction on the same property, with a scheduled completion date of 2027.
CSH maintains the only maximum-security treatment facility in the state (111 beds). We also have 166beds available for individuals in the community who need inpatient care, as well as individuals in the criminal justice system. We believe that treatment should be holistic and focused on the person's individual needs, recognizing that recovery is not linear or the same for every person. Treatment modalities may include medication, evidence-based group and individual therapy, peer support, psychosocial rehabilitation, vocational training, preparation for court, and treatment for substance use.
Central State Hospital is recruiting for a Post-Doctoral Fellow to join our Psychology Department. This position primarily performs forensic evaluations, largely competency to stand trial and sanity at the time of the alleged offense, although other forensic related evaluations also occur. The employee will act as a resource to other staff relevant to forensic psychological services and will lead the weekly Case Law seminar. In addition, this employee will be expected to be an informed consumer of research.

Job Duties
The Quantum Electronics Group (QEG) in the Department of Physics at Norfolk State University is seeking a postdoctoral associate with expertise in nonlinear and ultrafast optics, high power diode-pumped lasers, and laser spectroscopy of materials at cryogenic temperatures.
The successful candidate will conduct research on magneto-optics, low temperature and high magnetic field microscopy, and ultrafast two-color, pump-probe experiments on strongly correlated electron systems, topological insulators, 2D materials, thin films, nonlinear optical crystals and quantum devices incorporating some of these materials. The laser facilities include: a 5W Solstice regenerative amplifier, two Topas Prime/NIRUV OPA's, Mai Tai fs laser, a Quantum Design OptiCool cryostat 4k-300K range with a magnetic field up to 7 T, and related optics and electronics.
The materials and devices studied will be fabricated in the NSU Crystal Physics and Quantum Electronics Laboratory and in the NSU-Micron Class100/1000 Cleanroom, both located in the McDemmond Center for Applied Research on the NSU campus. Some of the facilities include, single crystal floating zone growth, Bridgman crystal growth stations, a 14T, 50 mK Quantum Dynamics PPMS, a low temperature XRD, a Laue backscattering, and state-of-the-art cleanroom fabrication systems.
The appointment is for 2 years if hired by September 2025.
Minimum Qualifications
The candidate must have a PhD degree in physics, optical engineering, or similar discipline related to research. The applicant must also show an interest and ability to communicate and mentor a diverse student body of undergraduate and graduate students, work in close collaboration with members of the Quantum Electronics Group and have the initiative and capability to work independently.

One post-doctoral position is available immediately in the department of Anatomy and Pathology, Eastern Virginia Medical School. The candidate will have principle on neuroscience and be a team-worker. The postdoctoral fellow positions will manage NIH-funded studies that are exploring the role of neuroimmune signaling in HAND and in the development of drug addiction. The candidates should be able to work with rodent models. All these projects are supported by high collaborative, multidisciplinary teams of scientists and extensive core services in the Center for Integrative Neuroscience and Inflammatory Diseases at EVMS.
