Job Description:
M Science is looking for an Equity Research Associate to assist in leading a data-driven research approach to covering companies across various sectors/industries. The position will report into one of our Senior Analysts responsible for generating and publishing investment research. The responsibilities for this role include using proprietary data sets to build financial and statistical models, perform data analysis, write reports, update marketing materials, and service client requests. The individual should be proficient with Excel, mathematical modeling, and have a basic understanding of financial statements and accounting. Experience with Python, SQL, or R required. The individual should also be an effective written and verbal communicator. Additionally, the candidate must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and a creative thinker who has a strong interest in the intersection of “alternative data,” investment research, and financial markets.
Responsibilities:
Development and deployment of statistical models for estimation and prediction of corporate performance across various sectors.
Identify and execute creative ways to answer key industry questions using our proprietary data and insights.
Gather and analyze data from a variety of internal and external resources, including, but not limited to: proprietary datasets; company documents and materials; SEC/regulatory filings such as annual reports and 10Ks; industry publications; and online data services.
Write, edit, and publish equity research reports incorporating insights derived from financial and statistical models.
Vet new and unique data sets for relevancy to continually improve and broaden our scope and accuracy.
Perform ad hoc analyses in response to client requests.
Support the sales process by developing analyses for sales pitches and press releases.
Skills and Qualifications:
Functional understanding of data analysis using Python, SQL or R is a must.
Ability to identify and work with strategic data partners.
Responsible for forecasting KPIs and identifying key business/industry trends based on use of alternative data.
Experience working with and analyzing large data sets and in developing actionable intelligence from the data.
Degree from a top university with a consistent record of academic excellence, preferably in computer science, statistics, economics, mathematics, engineering, finance or other program that is technical and quantitative in nature.

The salary offered will take into consideration an individual's experience level and qualifications. About the team
The AWS Automated Reasoning Group is a talented group of scientists from around the world. Their areas of expertise include interactive theorem proving, generative AI, SAT/SMT solvers, and programming language theory.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
* Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related technical field OR MS degree and 4+ years of industrial/academic experience in interactive theorem proving and/or automated reasoning.
* 4+ years of experience with programming languages such as Rust, Python, C/C++ and open-source technologies and open-source technologies
* 4+ years of experience in design and analysis of algorithms and data structures
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Deep understanding of formal methods, formal verification, solvers, constraint solving, and knowledge representation
* Experience/interest in LLMS and/or generative AI
* Ability to work in a fast paced and agile development environment
* Excellent written and verbal technical communication with an ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences

This individual will work closely with senior research professionals to assist in preparing and executing analyses of industry groups, individual companies, and their securities. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelors degree in business, with a focus in accounting or finance. Successful candidates will have completed no less than 3 senior level accounting and/or financial analysis courses. Grade point average above 3.5 preferred. In addition, at least one year of experience in an analytical or financial role required. Strong oral and written communication skills, research skills, and the ability to organize, analyze, and interpret data, as well as proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Access also required. In addition, this individual must possess the ability to synthesize data and articulate findings through excellent presentation skills.
Employee will operate office equipment, secure supplies and files, communicate with customers and/or other employees and will be expected to move about the office location. Physical demands could involve any or all of the following: digital dexterity and hand/eye coordination in the operation of office equipment; light to moderate lifting and carrying of supplies, files, etc.; the ability to speak and hear customers and/or other employees via phone or in person; body motor skills sufficient to enable incumbent to move from one office location to another.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $85,000 to $150,000 annually depending on location and job-related factors such as level of experience, education, licenses, and certifications. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for short-term incentive compensation and deferred incentive compensation subject to individual and company performance.

Function/Duties of Position

The Postdoctoral Scholar appointment is a full-time, career-development position performing and assisting with research under the supervision of a faculty member. The postdoctoral scholar shall receive advanced training to enhance the professional skills and research independence needed to pursue their chosen career path. The postdoctoral scholar is expected to participate in activities that further training and support the development of skills critical to pursue careers under the mentorship of the supervising faculty member.
Function/Duties of Position
The successful candidate will work as Project Leader on a variety of projects under the direction of Andrew W McHill, PhD, Assistant Professor and Director of the Sleep, Chronobiology, and Health Laboratory within the OHSU School of Nursing. The Postdoctoral fellow will work on research that is aimed at understanding the effects of disturbed sleep and circadian rhythms on physiology and pathophysiology in humans. In particular, we are investigating the adverse health effects of short and disrupted sleeping patterns, food choice, shift work, and the mechanisms underlying the adverse health of performing activities during the night. These studies will lead to interventions designed to improve the health, safety and well-being of shift-workers and vulnerable populations.
Primary duties will include data collection and management, developing scientific ideas, writing grant applications and manuscripts, and supervision of research staff. The successful candidate will be proficient in project management and independently monitoring study operations, budget management and managing human subjects IRB protocols and modifications. Shift work and weekend work (including night-time data collection) is expected. Additional duties can include overseeing and managing research equipment, materials, and logistics (with the assistance of research staff).
Experience with making measurements in human physiology, data analysis, and overseeing research studies is required. Experience with circadian, sleep, or nutritional studies, measurement of cardiovascular and metabolic variables, accelerometry, and experience with longitudinal data are desirable.

Anchor QEA is seeking to hire a Laboratory Scientist to work full-time in the Environmental Geochemistry Laboratory in the Portland Office. A successful candidate will have a degree in geological science, chemistry, environmental science, environmental engineering, chemical engineering, or related program as well as a strong interest in environmental geochemistry and the operation of a stellar environmental geochemistry laboratory. Responsibilities:
Perform environmental geochemical laboratory work, including data analysis and reporting, to support remedial investigations, feasibility studies, remedy implementation, and research and development initiatives
Maintain laboratory equipment and chemical, sample, and waste inventories
Develop and implement quality assurance/quality control practices and standard operating procedures
Some fieldwork may be required (e.g., to support passive sampling or other sophisticated data collection)

ESM Post-Doc Scholar
Research Scientist Job In Portland, OR
Our research team at Portland State University is looking for a creative and highly motivated postdoc for a NOAA-funded 2.5-year marine debris research project titled Beyond TAPPS. The study will work with the coastal tourism industry to address that sector's contributions to aerial and marine microplastic pollution by testing three microplastics interception interventions, conducting interviews to understand challenges and benefits to industry personnel of implementing interception technologies, and creating education and outreach components for coastal visitors.
The postdoc will coordinate several project components including: working with the Innovations Lab to design a new type of filter, coordinating with hotels around filter installation and sample collection, signage development, interview scheduling, sample processing, and data analysis and writing. The work will include traveling to and from established coastal towns as well as participating in virtual meetings to organize and communicate with partners. The researcher will contribute to our current understanding of microplastics pollution from washing machines, dryers, and dishwashers in industrial settings.
The postdoc will be housed in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Portland State University and will be advised by Dr. Elise Granek. Our interdisciplinary team consists of Drs. Elise Granek (lead PI; Environmental Science and Management), Susanne Brander (co-PI, Oregon State University, Hatfield Marine Science Center), Tala Navab (co-PI; OSU Environmental Eng), Jackie Padilla Gamiño (co-PI; University of Washington, Ecophysiologist), Angee Doerr (co-PI; OSU and OR Sea Grant Extension), one PhD student and one MS student, a postdoc with expertise in microplastics removal interventions and/or microplastics sample processing in multiple environmental media (this position).
