Research Technician II - Hall Lab Are you fascinated by the bizarre world of small, wiggly, often regenerative invertebrates? The Stowers Institute for Medical Research is seeking a Research Technician II to join the Hall Lab. Our lab is motivated by the simple premise that we shouldn't be limited to studying biology only in established “model” organisms. The biologist in this role will utilize molecular cloning, transient plant transformation, DNA extraction, DNA sample cleanup, and basic sequence analysis to test recombinase variants for activity and specificity. Candidates should possess hands-on experience in a molecular biology laboratory environment and preferably with plant tissue culture. Responsibilities + Perform molecular cloning using techniques such as restriction/ligation and assembly. + Conduct DNA extraction and purification. + Execute PCR and qPCR procedures. + Analyze sequences using basic bioinformatics tools like BLAST, SnapGene, and Geneious. + Carry out transient plant transformation, for example, Agrobacterium-mediated methods. + Engage in plant tissue culture, if preferred. + Understand site-specific recombination systems including Cre/lox and FLP/FRT. + Evaluate the activity and specificity of recombinase variants. The Medical Toxicologist at CTEH provides support in the areas of litigation support, occupational health, toxicology, risk assessment, industrial hygiene, and emergency response and may participate as a member of an emergency response team, either in person or remotely. The successful candidate will also perform in the role of project technical director in these same areas, providing expert consultation services to clients. An individual in this role will assemble, prepare, and analyze data concerning toxicological, environmental, and human health risk assessments while supervising nursing and health scientist staff on assigned projects. Utilizing a knowledge of various scientific disciplines, the Medical Toxicologist may oversee sampling, monitoring, and information collection and assist in CTEH's Toxicology and Emergency Response Program (TERP), will help administer the Workers Exposure Response Program (WERP), and assist with the administration of the CTEH employee health program, as well as the Montrose employee health program, and potentially health programs for other companies. Position Summary: The Computational Biologist will play a central role in converting complex genomic and metagenomic datasets into clear, interpretable insights that advance Pluton's research programs. This position requires close coordination with teams across the R&D organization to ensure analytical approaches, experimental design, and scientific priorities remain tightly aligned. The role involves working at the interface of data analysis, microbiology, and product research, supporting the discovery and characterization of microbial candidates, validating mechanisms of action, and enabling early-stage product development. Success requires strong technical rigor, effective communication, and the ability to collaborate across groups to guide data-driven decision making and maintain coherence between computational efforts and broader program objectives. This position is 100% in-person and located in St. Louis, MO.
