The incumbent is also responsible for performing routine and specialized radiographic procedures and providing patient care and physician assistance during the performance of those procedures. *Requirements* 1. TITLE: Research Scientist EXEMPT OR NON-EXEMPT: Exempt FULL- OR PART-TIME: Full-time PAY RANGE: $90,000 - $125,000 + bonuses REPORTS TO: Technical Director or as otherwise assigned. This position is responsible for supervising the activities of the Clinical Laboratory Scientists, Medical Laboratory Technicians, and laboratory assistants in the Microbiology department. The incumbent will be responsible for providing technical oversight, data review, managing personnel, and department development within all established federal, state, and local, regulatory guidelines. 1. Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution is required. 2. The Lab Technician supports the laboratory and quality teams by performing routine and specialised testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products. The role helps ensure that Vita-Pakt's products meet internal specifications, customer requirements and regulatory standards. The Lab Technician maintains lab equipment, records data, and assists with investigations and continuous improvement of lab operations. Key Responsibilities Prepare, label, and analyse laboratory samples (raw materials, in-process and finished products) according to established protocols. Perform routine chemical, physical and (if applicable) microbiological tests to verify product attributes (e.g., solids, moisture, pulp content, oil content, acidity, etc.). Record data, compile test results, prepare graphs/charts, and report findings to the supervisor or quality team. Maintain, calibrate, clean and sanitise laboratory equipment and ensure proper functioning. Keep the laboratory workspace organised, clean, and compliant with safety protocols, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and plant safety rules. Monitor and manage inventory of laboratory supplies, reagents and consumables; order replacements as needed. Assist with investigations of non-conforming results: help collect data, document conditions, support root-cause analysis and corrective action. Support the implementation and maintenance of laboratory standard operating procedures (SOPs), including updating documentation when processes change. Ensure proper sample storage, chain of custody, and timely disposal of waste according to plant/hazardous material protocols. Work closely with production, quality, and technical teams to ensure sample flow, data integrity and timely communication of results. Participate in training and cross-training (e.g., for shifts, alternate lab locations) as needed. The laboratory recently discovered a new family of ion channels (Tu et al , Science, 2018). One of the members of this family, OTOP1, functions in taste cells as the sour receptor. The function of OTOP channels that are expressed outside the taste system is still largely mysterious. The laboratory has also collaborated to solve the structure of OTOP1 and OTOP3. The research technician will support ongoing studies to follow up on these exciting new results and have the opportunity to conduct independent work if so desired. This position is based in the Neurobiology section of the department of Biological Sciences, on the beautiful University Park Campus of USC, close to downtown LA. Position responsibilities: The research technician will be involved in all aspect of lab maintenance and will supervise other lab members as needed. Candidates should have experience in molecular and cell biology within a research environment.
