Job Responsibilities and Requirements: PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Prepares patients for procedures. Reviews medical history, positions patients and cleans/shaves/numbs testing sites as appropriate. Interprets, describes and reports test results; recognizes recording errors and artifacts and reacts appropriately.     Join the MercyOne Genesis Family! We are looking to hire a Lab Technician! As a Lab Technician at MercyOne Genesis, you will: * Be proficient in the procurement of blood samples via venous and capillary techniques, from patients ranging in age from infant to geriatric. * Utilize use of the Laboratory Information System for activating, ordering, and resulting laboratory orders from providers and to result laboratory tests. * Educate patients in the proper collection of specimens such as urine, stool and sputum. * Review orders from providers, maintaining accuracy in ordering tests; occasionally must call providers' offices to obtain orders. * Process specimens in the appropriate way, including looking up specimen requirements, centrifuging and separating as necessary, and storing at the appropriate temperature to maintain sample integrity and testing acceptability. * Ready specimens for transfer to reference laboratories, including completing the required paperwork for transfer and ensuring STAT specimens are processed and transported in a timely manner, including calling a STAT courier and completing the necessary paperwork for the transfer. * Perform both waived and moderately complex CLIA testing in hematology, urinalysis, and serology areas under the guidance and supervision of an MLT or MT. * Keep accurate records, such as temperature monitoring, quality control for all laboratory testing and daily, weekly and monthly maintenance.
