GDIT's Military Health team is hiring a Research Assistant to support human subject research studies for the National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE) and the Defense Intrepid Network (DIN) located on-site at Walter Reed in Bethesda, MD.The NICoE is dedicated to improving the lives of patients and families affected by traumatic brain injury (TBI) through collaborative efforts with patients, families, referring providers, and researchers. HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

Accordingly, Dexis will work with civil society, the government, and parliament of Timor-Leste to strengthen the strategic, institutional, communications, and coordination capacity of key accountability institutions, especially the Anti-Corruption Commission, the Office of the Ombudsman for Human Rights and Justice, and the audit chamber. Stronger institutional independence of these oversight agencies and partner civil society organizations coupled with the development of sound legislative and governmental policy will ensure that citizens are empowered and can hold government accountable, thus leading to more inclusive and sustainable economic development.
In addition, AIM has been requested by its principal counterpart institutions, the Anti-Corruption Commission (CAC) and the Office of the Provedor for Human Rights and Justice (PDHJ) to provide support to develop their capacity to conduct research and gather data to inform policy directions, enhance the design of specific anti-corruption programs and to monitor and/or to improve or adjust ongoing ones. Recently, AIM had co-organized a research secretariat in the PDHJ as a modality to deliver the requested research capacity-building support, with a counterpart research secretariat being negotiated and to be developed in the CAC. Once operationalized, these research secretariats will serve as the main channels of AIM support for the research needs of these two institutions, as well as a conduit for technical assistance. The proposed specialist will also serve an initial coordinator of these proposed secretariats.
About the Position
Timor AIM seeks a National Anti-Corruption Research Specialist, a senior short-term Timor-Leste national consultant (local in-country consultant), proposed to commence from October 21, 2024 until January 20, 2025, to perform these duties and complete the deliverables below.
Responsibilities
The National Anti-Corruption Research Specialist will be responsible for coordinating with AIM partners CAC, PDHJ, JSMP, other state accountability institutions and other relevant partners to deliver technical assistance and support for research capacity-building and implementation of research and data gathering and analysis projects, including the design and conduct of surveys and other data-gathering activities.
Duties of the Specialist will include:
To provide research technical assistance and training/capacity-building support to AIM partners CAC, PDHJ and JSMP, as well as other AIM partners who may need such support in the future.
To gather and collate anti-corruption and good governance studies, papers, materials, and other relevant information and develop a database for easy access of AIM partners CAC, PDHJ, and JSMP, among others, including the coordination of the relevant research secretariats or administrative mechanism to deliver research support.

Job Description:
GDIT's Military Health team is hiring a Research Assistant to join our team in support of the Naval Medical Research Center Infectious Disease Directorate (NMRC IDD) activities in Silver Spring, MD. The mission of the NMRC IDD is to research and develop countermeasures to protect Navy and Marine Corps personnel against infectious agents of military importance.This position would provide support to the NMRC IDD Wound Infections Department by carrying out laboratory research procedures for working with multidrug resistant bacteria causing traumatic wound infections. Specific responsibilities include:HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
Uses independent judgment to perform basic to advanced bacteriology and immunology procedures to include pipetting, bacteriology isolation techniques, staining slides and microscope work, tissue culture, flow cytometry, serological assays, and molecular biology techniques.
Assist with small and large animal experimental procedures in accordance with Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee approved protocols.
Assist with research experiments, procedures, tests and compile results for principal investigators.
Independently provide solutions to experimental questions and objectives.
Set up, operate, modify and maintain laboratory equipment and apparatus.
Create written lab reports, data slides and scientific briefings in support of departmental briefings and conference presentations.
Perform required quality control procedures for every test done and keeps a record in the designated logbook or worksheet.
Present posters and attends conferences on behalf of the department at both internal and external research opportunities.
Perform other duties as assigned
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Education: BS in Biology, Microbiology, Medical Technology or related field
Required Experience: 1+ years of experience in a Laboratory environment - long periods of standing, handle variety of chemicals
1+ years of experience in an Animal research environment
Technical knowledge of microbiology, immunology, and current research technologies and practices
Knowledge of laboratory equipment and laboratory safety procedures
Skilled in the use of word processing, spreadsheets, graphic and email software
Skilled in the use of aseptic techniques
Preferred Skills: Ability to plan and prioritize work
Ability to pipette, use microscopes, and perform staining procedures
Ability to identify and distinguish different colors
Ability to correctly transcribe laboratory results
Ability to follow standard operating procedures
Ability to interface with investigators, vendors, research staff
Knowledge of and skill in tissue culture technique and handling biological hazards and their safe use and disposal.
Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain a favorable NACLC T3 security investigation
