We seek a full-time Research Tech to support our cellular, and in vivo studies. The role requires strong organizational skills, careful record keeping, and comfort working in a fast-paced research environment.
The key responsibilities will include if not limited to:
* Perform molecular biology workflows: DNA/RNA extraction, cloning, standard PCR genotyping, qPCR, gel electrophoresis.
* Support mouse studies: Main mouse colonies, perform genotyping, manage timed breeding, performing procedures (tail vein and intraperitoneal injections, routine blood collection) and sample collection (per approved protocols).
* Participate in laboratory projects involving the application of basic molecular biology techniques and mouse animal models.
* Open to learn new techniques, be inquisitive, collaborative and collegial
* Maintain lab inventories, data archiving, and uphold safety and compliance standards.

Primary Objective:
The Research Associate position is open to candidates who can demonstrate the ability to thrive in a modern and fast-paced biotechnology environment. A successful candidate will work with a cross-functional team responsible for the discovery and development of novel therapeutic proteins. The incumbent will be a result-oriented self-starter with a commitment to teamwork and reliability.
Main Accountabilities:
The main responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Working with other scientists to design, generate and characterize recombinant proteins.
Execute selection and screening strategies used in discovery workflows.
Plan, execute, record and analyze experiments.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's in the life sciences (e.g. Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering), with a minimum of one year of work experience in a laboratory setting.
Proficient with molecular biology methods, including: primer design, PCR, gel electrophoresis, plasmid DNA preparation, cloning and sequence analysis.
Experience in with characterization of recombinant proteins, including but not limited to ELISA, MSD, SDS-PAGE, protein quantitation, etc..
Competencies:
Commitment to ethical scientific investigations and rigorous experimental methods.
Ability and desire to multitask and function in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
Demonstrated ability to think critically and analyze and interpret data independently.

**About the Role & Program** Step into the spotlight as a National Geographic intern, collaborating directly with our award-winning, industry-leading team in Washington, D.C. **What You Will Do**
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
+ Assisting our team with fact-checking of National Geographic documentaries and ancillary content at various stages of development, post-production, and delivery.
+ Assisting in researching and writing assessments for new projects under consideration.
+ Reviewing, researching, and editing content, such as digital/social copy, promotional facts, quiz questions, and other content, under the guidance of the Editorial Research staff.
+ Conducting research and preparing briefs on emerging issues related to the team's work, such as new research tools, evolving style and journalism standards, and generative AI.
**Required Qualifications & Skills**
+ Strong oral and written communication skills
+ High attention to detail, are analytical and well organized
+ Majored in a research and writing-intensive field of study at the college level
+ Ability to handle and prioritize simultaneous projects and meet deadlines

**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Previous academic or internship experience in journalism (print and/or broadcast), television, news and news media production, and/or television news or documentary script writing
+ Familiarity with video editing
+ Multilingual skills or experience communicating in more than one language
+ Experience working with software - such as Airtable and research tools like Nexis, JSTOR, and Google Scholar
**Education**
+ Major coursework in research and writing-intensive field of study, either social sciences or physical sciences.

**Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:**
+ Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
+ Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.
+ Be at least 18 years of age
+ Possess unrestricted work authorization
