Reality Labs at Meta is seeking Research Scientists with experience in product-focused machine learning and signal processing research to advance our pioneering work in neuromotor interfaces, which has grown out of the acquisition of CTRL-labs. We're building a practical interface drawing on the rich neuromotor signals that can be measured non-invasively via surface electromyography (EMG) with single motor neuron resolution. This technology could become one of the main pillars for interaction with virtual and augmented worlds.We are a multi-disciplinary team of researchers investigating the nature of human neuromotor signals, developing novel signal processing and machine learning methods to infer a user's intent, and creating novel interaction techniques and user experiences. Help us unleash human potential by removing the bottlenecks between user intent and action.
**Required Skills:**
Research Scientist - CTRL Labs Responsibilities:
1. Research and develop Deep Learning or other computational models
2. Design methods, tools and infrastructure to analyze and leverage rich multimodal data sets
3. Set technical direction for a project of 2-3 researchers and engineers
4. Help transition and deliver our work from research into product
5. Adapt standard machine learning methods to best leverage modern parallel environments (e.g. distributed clusters, multicore SMP, and GPU)

Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as Statistical Research Specialist 3. Essential Functions
* Under direction, implements the State of Illinois's surveillance systems for communicable disease data.
* Designs an ambulatory syndromic surveillance system for collecting visit data in accordance with Meaningful Use public health reporting.
* Conducts advanced statistical analysis of infectious disease data utilizing Illinois-National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (I-NEDSS) Analysis, Visualization and Reporting (AVR) and the NSSP tools, including Business Objects, Crystal Reports R and R Studio software and other analytical tools.
* Performs analysis for testing and validating electronic laboratory data to ensure that laboratory test results are valid and mapped to the correct, reportable conditions utilizing knowledge of infectious disease surveillance and epidemiology for improved outbreak detection and to ensure that accurate information is given to local health department staff to appropriately guide disease investigations.
* Responds to inquiries from hospitals and providers regarding Meaningful Use public health objectives, maintaining liaisons with these health care providers.

Minimum Requirements
* Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college with courses in statistics, computer science, mathematics, economics and related fields.
* Requires two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in the development and application of research designs and statistical methods and techniques, preferably in the job related subject matter area.
Preferred Qualifications
* Three (3) or more years of experience working in communicable disease surveillance in a public health organization.
* Two (2) or more years of experience validating communicable disease data quality and performing continuous quality assessment of the data, include analyzing and reporting.

Cosmological research within CPAC covers theory, modeling, observations, and experiments targeted at dark energy, dark matter, primordial fluctuations, inflation, and neutrinos. Theory and modeling activities emphasize multi-wavelength survey science, the galaxy-halo connection, cluster cosmology, and large-scale cosmological simulations. Analysis efforts cover topics such as CMB power spectra, CMB lensing, galaxy clustering, redshift-space distortions, weak/strong gravitational lensing, and artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML). The observational focus is on optical sky surveys (DES, DESI, Roman, Rubin Obs/LSST, DESC, SPHEREx), CMB instrumentation and observations (SPT), and cross-correlations between the two.
Applicants with research experience in any of the above areas will be considered. One of our open positions is to work on AI/ML with applications to cosmological modeling and surveys. Another open position is to work with Matthew R. Becker on weak gravitational lensing analysis with Rubin LSST data. Argonne's Nanoscience and Technology Division seeks a postdoctoral scientist to advance transmission electron microscopy (TEM) studies of materials and interfaces relevant to microelectronics. Working within the Center for Nanoscale Materials (CNM), the successful candidate will leverage state-of-the-art functional and dynamic TEM capabilities to lead experimental research on defect species, distributions, and dynamics in metallic, oxide, and semiconducting systems. This project integrates high-throughput and in situ TEM experimentation with AI/ML-driven image analysis and computational modeling to uncover mechanistic insights into defect migration and functional properties. The work will be performed in close collaboration with experts in microelectronics materials and devices, materials characterization, computational modeling, and artificial intelligence across multiple academic and national laboratories.
Key Responsibilities
+ Design and execute S/TEM imaging and spectroscopy, including in situ studies (e.g., EELS, EDS) to probe defect structures and dynamics
+ Apply advanced image processing and analysis; develop AI/ML workflows for quantitative defect characterization
+ Implement high-throughput and automated TEM specimen preparation, including focused ion beam (FIB) methods
+ Curate and prepare datasets for AI model training, validation, and inference
+ Disseminate findings through high-impact publications and presentation
**Position Requirements**
+ Recent or soon-to-be-completed Ph.D. (0-5 years) in materials science, physics, electrical engineering, or a closely related field
