Our mission is to improve human health and the quality of life through the support of nonhuman primate research programs that advance our knowledge of the causes, preventions, treatments, and cures of debilitating diseases Function/Duties of Position This position will support the ongoing and newly funded research projects in the Infectious Disease Resource laboratory in the Division of Pathobiology at the Oregon National Primate Research Center of OHSU. The incumbent will perform a variety of hands-on procedures with non-human primates and will assist and perform laboratory procedures. Additional duties include sample collection, data entry, and reporting of observations to supervisors. Eligible to work in an ITAR Environment ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs setup and troubleshooting of various equipment. May be asked to evaluate new set up or procure workspace. Will train others on set up and provide support to more junior team members. Prepares and runs samples for testing. May build test set up and document results. May run engineering tests prescribed by engineer and provide results. May report on results using excel, charts, or tracking software determined by the process owner. May write or support data collection for failure analysis reports or other reports as assigned by R and D engineers. Will visually inspect parts at required steps in the process with attention to detail, ensuring the parts are within specified tolerances. May disposition or reject parts. Will use measuring devices or test equipment often. May create tools such as fixture or go/ no go gauges. Provide feedback to engineers or process owners on improvements or steps in new processes. Participates in the 5S and safety programs and may be asked to implement suggestions from shop floor. May provide solutions to atypical safety issues. Complies with applicable requirements of Kyocera International, Inc. policy, ISO 9000, ISO 14001 requirements, ITAR regulations. Frequently read specifications and mechanical drawings and may fabricate parts or tools. Has a wide range of proficiency in analytical processes and procedures. May track or order raw materials and fabricate or recommend process for prototype builds with limited or little instruction. May create instruction sheets, training materials, presentations, or reports to share process information with peers. strong verbal and written communication skills and technical data is needed. The Institute on Aging (IOA) is a research unit at Portland State University that conducts research, provides education, and collaborates with community partners on activities that promote the well-being of older adults. Within the IOA, the Oregon Center of Excellence for Behavioral Health & Aging (OCEBHA) has a mission to improve care and services for older adults with behavioral health needs by educating, promoting, and maintaining the behavioral health workforce in Oregon. The Older Adult Behavioral Health Training Program Manager will, in partnership with the OCEBHA Workforce Development Lead Coordinator and wider OCEBHA leadership team, lead the Center's mission to improve care and services for older adults with behavioral health needs by educating, promoting, and maintaining the behavioral health workforce in Oregon. This position involves assisting with the development of training curriculum, planning training events with other trainers across the state, as well as identifying and cataloguing existing training resources.
