Role Summary

The Johns Hopkins All Children's Institute for Fundamental Biomedical Research (IFBR) is recruiting for a basic science research faculty member to be located on the St. Petersburg, Florida campus. The selected candidate will hold a full time tenure-track faculty appointment with the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (JHUSOM), rank commensurate with experience (Assistant, Associate or full Professor).
We are interested in candidates whose proposed research has broad relevance to the control of metabolism related to disease states with relevance to children's health. Additionally, preferred research areas include, but are not limited to genomics, epigenomics, nuclear receptor research, lipid signaling, bioinformatics, transcriptional and system level analyses of cells and tissues involved in whole body metabolism and/or disease processes. Candidates whose research offers translational potential in obesity, diabetes, endocrine, inflammatory or degenerative diseases are particularly encouraged to apply.
The Faculty opportunity requires a PhD or MD/PhD in Biological Science or related field with outstanding training and experience in research pertaining to one of the focus areas noted above. The newly hired faculty member will join a cluster of 9 JHUSOM basic science faculty with research space in the Johns Hopkins All Children's Research and Education Building. This state of the art $95M 230,000 square foot building is home to basic science, clinical and translational research as well as educational programs including a Medical Simulation Center. The building includes over 40,000 square feet of wet laboratory space, an accredited centralized pediatric biorepository, a tissue-based research and diagnostics core, BSL3 facilities, an onsite vivarium, as well as extensive areas for collaborative discussion. Additional onsite support for our investigators includes access to state-of-the-art Shared Resources and Equipment for cutting edge biomedical research. IFBR faculty also have full access to the research service centers and cores on the JHU SOM Baltimore campus as well.

Summary
Quality of Life in Oncology (QOOL) Lab - Applied Research Scientist I
The Applied Research Scientist I will work directly with Drs. Sylvia Crowder and Laura Oswald in the Department of Health Outcomes and Behavior at Moffitt Cancer Center. Dr. Crowder conducts observational and interventional research to improve nutritional status, diet quality, and quality of life in cancer patients and cancer survivors. Dr. Oswald's research focuses on understanding the impacts of cancer on patient-reported outcomes and developing/testing evidence-based behavioral interventions to improve outcomes. For both PIs, projects often involve multiple modes of data collection and intervention delivery, including patient-reported outcomes, objective measurement, biospecimens, and digital technologies.
The Applied Research Scientist will be responsible for helping to manage ongoing research projects and develop new projects at Moffitt Cancer Center. This non-tenure track position will have ample opportunities for authorship of peer-reviewed publications and other career-enhancing activities, such as attending conferences, workshops, lectures, and seminars to develop and maintain research skills.

* The Applied Research Scientist I is a non-tenure track researcher who serves as part of a clinical/translational research team under the general direction of the proposed investigators in the Population Science Research Division.

Provides direct support to Clinical Research Coordinators in the completion of protocol-specific study goals while observing strict adherence to ICH, GCP, protocol, and site guidelines and policies.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Creating and maintaining patient charts for all assigned studies.
Preparing participant visits based on CRCs schedule, ensuring all source documents, assessments, lab kits and other visit materials are available and accurate. Filing of lab results, EKG results, and other communication in designated patient charts.
Maintaining inventory of study specific supplies including lab kits, assessments and participant facing materials.
Timely completion of data entry and query resolution for all CRFs, based on sponsor specific timelines and deadlines established in contract or other communication.
Assisting Coordinators in assessments, including but not limited to, blood pressure, urine collection.
Communicating with study participants, caregivers, third party vendors and laboratories as needed.
Assisting Coordinators with scheduling, copying, faxing, and other clerical tasks.
Aiding Coordinators in the facilitation of study monitoring visits.
Completion of daily responsibilities delegated by CRC as they pertain to the study and/or participants.

Education/Experience/Skills:
Interest in and knowledge of specific study indications.

Learning Outcomes:
