Harris Associates
Harris Associates is a Chicago-based, buy-side investment management firm with $104 billion of assets under management. At our core, we are value investors. Our analysts employ a fundamental-focused, bottom-up research process to identify undervalued companies in the public market. We view a share of stock as ownership in a business and invest with a multi-year time horizon. Our research analysts are generalists, meaning they can recommend any company as an investment idea regardless of business sector or cap size. Our generalist model lends itself to frequent collaboration and debate among our analyst team, which we view as vital to our investment decision-making process. Our unique culture and investment process has led to strong performance for our clients for more than four decades.
2026 Summer Internship
The Harris Associates Equity Research Internship is designed to identify and train the next generation of analysts, portfolio managers, and leaders at Harris Associates. We do not hire interns to format PowerPoint decks. We hire interns to work alongside our analysts and contribute to our research process. We have a long history of developing interns into full-time members of our research team, in fact, over 1/3 of our current research analyst team were once interns themselves.
Interns at Harris can expect to collaborate with analysts to help generate new investment ideas and follow existing portfolio companies. This will entail doing qualitative research projects, building financial models, and learning about businesses.
We are looking for smart, ambitious, and thoughtful individuals to bring their unique perspective to Harris Associates. The best interns are voracious learners and are constantly asking questions about the world around them. Importantly, this does not require a background in finance or economics - just intellectual horsepower and a genuine interest in learning what makes businesses succeed or fail.
We don't believe in classroom-style training programs. As an intern at Harris, you will be mentored directly by our analysts and will progress at a pace that makes sense for you. For some, this may mean more time dedicated to the fundamentals of business valuation, whereas others may focus on qualitative business insights and new idea generation. Through this personalized learning, our goal is to develop interns into thoughtful, contributing members of our team. All majors and ages are welcome to apply.
We offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to integrate life and work and to support our employees and their families.
If hired full-time following the internship, benefits include, but are not limited to; medical, prescription drug, dental and vision insurance, paid time off, profit sharing plan, 401k plan, tuition reimbursement, commuter and holistic wellness benefits along with volunteer programs.
Actual annual base salaries may vary based on factors including but not limited to education, training, experience, and other job-related factors. Full-time base pay will be determined on an individualized basis and is only one part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include a discretionary performance bonus and other Harris sponsored benefit programs.
Expected monthly range for this Chicago-based role$8,300—$8,300 USD
