Job Title: Residence Hall Director for 23rd Street Residence

Department: Student Affairs

Reports To: Associate Director of Residence Life


Position Overview:

Assist in the development and implementation of a residence life program for the 23rd Street Residence


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the overall administration of a first-year student residence hall that houses approximately 325 first year students.
  • Responsible for the recruitment, selection, supervision, and evaluation of 10 Resident
  • Assistants.
  • Facilitate weekly staff meetings; organize staff development activities
  • Have regular one-on-one meetings with student staff.
  • Maintain office hours at the Office of Residence Life
  • Oversee building maintenance and repairs, maintain building inventory, and key logs.
  • Implement and oversee building check-in and check-out processes.
  • Organize and implement yearly room inspections, set standards for student billing, and provide information to facilities for cleaning and upkeep for all student rooms.
  • Develop and enforce standard of living policies in the residence halls.
  • Serve on an on-call basis and respond to any crisis or emergency situations.
  • Responsible for crisis intervention, conflict mediation and regulated follow up procedures.
  • Serve as a hearing officer for judicial and disciplinary cases.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree required
  • Two or more years residence life experience

Perform duties of a custodian, as well as others duties related to Facilities Management operations as assigned by the Housing Lead Supervisor and the Manager of Building Services.
+ Clean and service lavatories, including toilets, vanity areas, and shower rooms.

+ Vacuum carpets and rugs in public areas.

+ Sweep and mopping of floors, stairs (interior and exterior), and other hard surfaces.

+ Collecting loose debris and depositing it in the appropriate receptacles, removing liners of receptacles, place full liner in the appropriate collection area, and replace liner. Clean receptacle when dirty.

+ Windows and airlocks. Wash windows, window sills, and door frames.

+ Clean and dust furniture, recreational equipment, walls, and interior doors.

+ Report items that need to be repaired.

+ Remove snow at buildings entrances, sidewalks, and exterior stairs.

+ Maintain and clean custodial equipment.

+ Requires general knowledge of cleaning terms and safety procedures related to Hazardous Chemicals.

+ Ability to use cleaning equipment including a carpet cleaner, orbital scrubbing machine, and other light weight and heavy weight machines.

+ Ability to move moderately heavy items.

Responsible for helping to achieve ongoing guest satisfaction by maintaining the cleanliness and general appearance of public areas and corridors of the hotel.
Responsibilities

+ Stocks room attendant carts with supplies.

+ Cleans furniture, elevators, glass, planters, etc. in public areas such as lobby, pool and public restrooms. Sweeps, mops, scrubs and vacuums hallways, stairs and office space. Picks up trash from parking lot and outdoor areas.

+ Tends laundering machines to clean articles such as rags, wiping cloth, towels, sheets and other linen.
