Job Description
The Residence Life Coordinator rates from a customer service orientation that incorporates student development theory, institutional/organizational priorities, and an excellent professional sense of the needs of an educational living and learning environment. Leading the Office of Housing & Residence Life's comprehensive housing operation, the Coordinator is responsible for managing the day-to-day housing procedures and the Housing Selection processes, serves as the Hall Director for a residential community of approximately 300 - 400 students, and is a member of the on-call duty rotation.
Reporting to the Director for Housing & Residence Life, the Residence Life Coordinator is an integral member of the housing staff and will work collaboratively to create a positive learning environment within the residence halls consistent with the mission of the college.
The Residence Life Coordinator is a 12-month, full-time, live-in position with a competitive salary and benefits, including unfurnished on-campus living, meal plan and on-campus parking requiring evening and weekend work.
Responsibilities
Housing Operations:
Assists with the Office of Housing & Residence Life's comprehensive housing operations through management of online housing record system (Banner), new student housing assignment process, annual room selection process, room change process, check-in and check-out process, and housing occupancy reports;
Coordinates the Residence Hall Opening and Closing procedures at the start and end of each semester and vacation period
Manages the damage assessment and billing processes including room inspections, Room Condition Reports (RCRs), community billing, community area inspections, damage summary reports, etc.;
Maintains the Office of Housing & Residence Life door code & key inventory system, including lock-out procedures, lost keys, lock changes, etc.;
Liaises with the Office of Facilities and the Office of Campus Safety and Security to maintain the College's residential facilities and address students' needs and concerns;
Explains, interprets and enforces housing policies and procedures to students, parents, faculty and staff;
Assists with departmental projects and initiatives as assigned by the Director of Housing and Residence Life
Emergency Response & Community Relations:
Serves on the on-duty rotation as the primary contact for on-campus emergencies or crises, including evenings, weekends, break periods and holidays;
Upholds and enforces all Housing & Residence Life and College policies, by responding in a timely manner for situations related to the safety, security and well-being of students;
Intervenes, guides and advises residents through interpersonal conflict, behavioral, emotional, health and safety issues, and serves as contact and/or mediator for roommate conflicts;
Adjudicates student conduct matters by investigating low-level incidents, meeting with students and assigning sanctions.
Student Staff Supervision:
Supervises, trains and evaluates 5-10 Resident Assistants (RAs).
Participates in August and January trainings, retreats, and in-service training sessions;
Tracks all building programs and activities planned by the RAs;
Establishes office hours in the Office for availability to residents and staff;
Facilitates a weekly staff meeting for RAs.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree required, master's degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, or related field preferred
