General Description:


The primary responsibility of this position is to maintain safety, security and control of the facility and residents in accordance with Company policy and contracting agency requirements. This position has first level responsibility for maintaining resident accountability.
  • Processing the arrival of residents in accordance with established procedures and contract requirements;
  • Conducting and reporting accurate counts of all residents assigned to the respective facility as directed;
  • Monitoring surveillance cameras covering the facility and reporting inappropriate movement;
  • Monitoring the movement of residents and visitors;
  • Maintaining the sign-in and sign-out procedure for residents and visitors;
  • Maintaining inmate accountability outside the facility;
  • Accurately recording all activities in accordance with Company and contract requirements,
  • Accurately reporting the number of residents who arrive or leave the facility in accordance with Company and contract requirements;
  • Monitoring the dispensing of medication and first aid supplies for residents;
  • Monitoring in-house chores to ensure that residents complete all assigned duties;
  • Serving as a liaison between residents and case managers for effective communication;
  • Accurately reporting all problems and/or violations of contract agency Prohibited Acts and Company policies and procedures;
  • Assisting case managers when searching residents motor vehicles;
  • Monitoring the telephone system based in the control-area;
  • Maintaining a photo ID log for all residents;
  • Searching property that is brought into the facility by residents and visitors to eliminate the introduction of contraband;
  • Conducting pat searches of residents;
  • Conducting alcohol tests (breathalyzer) on residents in accordance with established contract requirements and company policy;
  • Collecting urine specimens on residents as assigned by the Resident Supervisor in accordance with established procedures;
  • Assisting in the serving of meals in the absence of food service personnel;
  • Transporting residents using company vehicles (New Jersey operation);
  • Completing an inventory of personal property for residents upon arrival at the facility;
  • Maintaining an inventory of personal property for residents who leave on unscheduled release;
  • Maintaining First Aid and CPR Certifications;
  • Participating in all mandatory training and staff development sessions, and
  • Performing all other duties as assigned by the Manager of Resident Supervisors.



Qualifications/Skill Requirements:


One year of experience in a position of security/customer service responsibility, preferably in a correctional organization. Demonstrated effectiveness in writing and oral communication; First Aid and CPR Certifications (will train for certification); valid driving license for employment in New Jersey, and a clean driving record are required.



Abilities & Goals:

  • Learn and implement contract requirements regarding community corrections and accountability
  • Work a rotating schedule (including overtime);
  • Establish authority and communicate for understanding;
  • Communicate effectively, orally and in writing with all levels;
