Job Description/Duties


Proactively ensure the safety and security of clients and facilities on first and second shift. Proactively seek to support individuals in recovery from a substance use disorder. Expresses understanding, support and respect the many paths of recovery an individual client may wish to pursue. Maintaining confidentiality of communication between peer and peer recovery supporter. The confidential nature of this relationship does not extend to areas covered by mandated reporting. The Resident Advisor will serve as a role model, act as a mentor, advocate and motivator Support connections to community based, mutual self-help groups Participate and contribute to weekly staffing discussions with clinical and case management Communicate shift notes to the Director of Housing and relevant staff.


Qualifications
Minimum high school diploma/ G.E.D. Must have an understanding and respect for addiction recovery. Must be able to read and write Must be willing to obtain your CMS certification upon hire (must be eligible to bill Medicaid) Knowledge of Electronic Health Records systems preferred. Must have proficient computer skills

POSITION REPORTS TO Overnight Specialist
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Remain awake and alert during the residents sleeping hours, making regular direct observations of the sleeping areas as well as the rest of the unit.
• Assist residents with integrating to the Covenant House Florida environment. Ensure that all services rendered to youth are in a culturally competent manner according to CHF Mission, Principles, and Core Values.
• Responsible for waking the residents in the morning and ensuring that the established routine is followed. Enforce program and agency procedures.
• Supervise youth, maintain order, and exercise appropriate judgment at all times (i.e. at breakfast, on the residential floors, in common areas, and during escorts).
• Maintain a clean and safe environment. Assist and supervise youth in general cleanliness of all residential living and common areas. Ensure that work areas are clean and organized before, during, and at end of shift.
• Transport residents while using agency vehicles, as needed, and approved in advance by the Residential Administrator on Duty.
• Keep record of all medication, ensuring residents self administer all medications in the proper amount and at the appropriate times.
• Communicate pertinent information with staff and youth throughout each shift. By the end of each shift, complete all documentation neatly and accurately (i.e. bed checklists, case records, incident reports, abuse reports).
• Drive company vehicles to escort youth to and from activities, hospital visits, school, and various other appointments, etc.

Summary

The Resident Advisor is responsible for providing oversight for clients in residential and day treatment settings as well as assisting clients to improve functioning in academic, work, living, social, and leisure environments through reinforcement of skill and resource development.

HOURS

Days and hours will vary, with possible overnight shifts. May include weekends.

Key Functions

1. Promote and maintain a safe environment conducive to recovery.

-Reports client safety concerns to Program Leadership.
-Maintains compliance with all established program policies, processes, and procedures.
-Conducts situation monitoring in assigned settings to provide a continually safe environment.
-Follows established program guidelines for intervening and supporting clients who are in distress while under their supervision.
