What You'll Do:

Department: Belmont Tower and/or Brookwood Place - Assisted Living

The Resident Companion supports our mission and values by assisting residents in an Assisted Living setting with those activities of daily living in which they are unable to perform without help, fostering at all times residents' independence and freedom of choice.
The Resident Companion's primary responsibilities include:
Provides assistance with activities of daily living (ADL's):
Dressing/undressing: ensures that clothes are clean, appropriate in season, and presentable.
Bathing: provides assistance with personal hygiene (i.e. shaving, dental hygiene, nail care, hair care, etc.).
Mobility: uses various devices that enable resident to ambulate independently (i.e. cane, walker, wheelchair, crutch, etc.).
Dining: meal time reminders, sets up and cleans tables as needed, transports food from buffet to table, waits tables as needed, room service as needed.
Toileting: assists in transfer and dressing, assists in applying incontinence devices.
Laundry services: delivers and picks up bed/bath linen; personal laundry possible. Will come in contact with a variety of laundry chemicals
Health maintenance/monitoring: observes and reports physical/mental changes to Manager or designated nursing staff; conducts room checks and resident rounds; monitors for safety hazards; reports resident related incidents/accidents.
Activity Program: encourages and reminds resident of scheduled programs. Assists with activities as needed.
Emergency Preparedness: responds to and acts appropriately in emergency/disaster situations or drills. Attends mandatory inservices as directed plus enough additional inservices to meet requirements for CNA.
Other duties as assigned.

Must be at least 16 years old.
High School Diploma or GED is preferred but not required.

Job Description

Performs general housekeeping and laundry duties along with the Housekeeping Assistants. Know location of each resident, reminding them to sign out when they leave the building, Encourages teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers. Use approved cleaning solutions and chemicals and follow prescribed procedures at all times to ensure a safe living environment. Assist with community laundry as assigned, Maintain current knowledge of policies and procedures as related to the position or employment. Support and promote the community vision and mission statement. Attend required or assigned training and development sessions. Maintain confidentiality of all resident or employee information.
Qualifications
Must be able to communicate and work effectively with the community senior population. Maintain current knowledge of policies, and procedures, and regulations as related to the position and/or employment. Safely operate equipment necessary to perform duties. Ability to read and write English. Ability to work independently or as a team member with other employees in providing services to residents. Ability to meet established schedules and deadlines and to provide on-going progress reports to the Wellness Director. Ability to maintain confidentiality of resident and employee information. Must be able to work weekends and holidays per established schedule.
