Responsibilities: Resident Support:
Provide a supportive and respectful presence for shelter residents.
Assistresidents with basic needs, such as access to meals, hygiene supplies, and bedding.
Monitor resident behavior and address any conflicts or issues that arise.
Encourage residents to participate in shelter programs and activities.
Shelter Security and Safety:
Collaborate with Security to ensure the safety and security of the shelter facility and residents.
Enforce shelter rules and regulations.
Conduct regular rounds of the shelter to ensure safety and security.
Conduct safety checks, and searches as needed.
Shelter Operations:
Assist with shelter intake and discharge procedures.
Maintain accurate records of resident occupancy and shelter activities.
Assist with maintaining a clean and organized shelter environment, including sanitizing sleeping areas, moving furniture, sanitizing walls, floors, and ledges, and swapping mattresses as needed.
Report vacated units and prepare them for new residents. This includes cleaning bathrooms, shampooing carpets, cleaning kitchen area, and furniture setup.
Help residents pack items as needed if exiting units and move items down to the 1st floor.
Nightly ES laundry, cleaning of welcome center, cleaning staff bathrooms, restocking storage room shelves, and assisting with building chores.
Assist with the distribution of supplies and donations. Accurately monitor and document medication intake and any observations
Complete shift reports.
Crisis Intervention:
Respond to and de-escalate crisis situations.
Provide support to residents experiencing emotional distress or other crises.
Contact emergency services as needed.
Qualifications: Education and Experience:
High School diploma or GED required.
Experience working with vulnerable populations is a plus

Job Summary:
Community Residence Aides (CRAs) in our Residential Department work within group homes and apartment settings to provide a wide variety of person-centered, trauma informed supports and services to adults with a mental health diagnosis. CRAs will provide support with daily living activities and socialization; while modeling, teaching, and advocating for them to live at their highest level of independence. CRAs are responsible for the supervision and safety of those residing at their site, overseeing medication self-administration, medical appointment participation, and household chores and cleaning. Paid training is provided. Sites are staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Residence locations are on the East Side of Buffalo.
CRAs working 3pm-11pm Monday through Friday will receive a shift differential of $1.50 per hour. CRAs working 11pm-7am Monday through Friday will receive a shift differential of $2.00 per hour. Weekend shift differential is $2.00 additional per hour. Some CRAs will earn up to $19.50 per hour depending on the shift worked.
