Purpose
The Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) RN provides specialized nursing care for patients with mechanical circulatory support devices, primarily Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVADs), used in the treatment of advanced heart failure. This role coordinates inpatient and outpatient care, including pre-implant education, post-operative management, and long-term follow-up. The VAD RN collaborates closely with cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, transplant coordinators, advanced practice providers, and other members of the multidisciplinary heart failure team. The position typically reports to the Director of Mechanical Circulatory Support.
Responsibilities
Coordinates VAD Patient Care
Manages care for patients pre- and post-VAD implantation.
Collaborates with medical team to assess candidacy and treatment plans.
Facilitates continuity of care across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings.

Performs driveline site assessments and dressing changes.
Coordinates with technical support and device manufacturers.
Documents device performance and patient outcomes.
Collaborates with Multidisciplinary Team
Participates in clinical review meetings and care conferences.
Communicates with financial counselors regarding insurance coverage.
Coordinates with emergency services and long-term care providers.
Serves as a resource for internal and external healthcare professionals.
Supports regulatory compliance and quality initiatives.
Supports Program Development and Quality Improvement

Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Current RN license in the State of Texas or compact state
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
2 years of ICU or cardiac care experience.
Experience with mechanical circulatory support or heart failure patients preferred.
Relevant education or experience may be substituted.

Summary of Duties of the Medication Technician
The primary responsibilities of the Medication Technician are as follows: 1) Administer or assist with the administration and/or supervision of medications to the residents in a safe, accurate, and timely manner (dependent on State regulations); 2) Provide physical and psychosocial care to all residents in a manner that promotes dignity, choice, and individuality; and 3) Responsible for overseeing the wellness staffing schedule. The Medication Technician reports to the supervisor on duty as well as the Wellness Director.
Essential Functions of the Medication Technician
Administers or assists with or supervises the administration of medications according to the physician order on the medication administration record (MAR).
Documents medications administered on the MAR in accordance with company policy; Checks MARs immediately after administration and prior to end of shift to ensure documentation is complete and accurate.
Conducts change of shift report with oncoming/outgoing shift personnel.
Maintains security of medication cart and narcotic keys during entire shift; Conducts narcotic count at the beginning and end of every shift in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Provides assistance with activities of daily living such as with bathing, dressing, personal hygiene (includes shaving, oral care, nail care, hair care, foot care), toileting, eating, and ambulation/mobility.
Works collaboratively with peers and other team members.
Maintains professional demeanor at all times when interacting with residents and families.
Reports any suspected or witnessed instances of verbal, mental, or physical abuse to licensed staff immediately.

Locate campus facilities to be used (i.e., library, textbook room, audio visual supply room, department workroom, faculty lounge, auditorium counseling facilities, etc.)
Meet other members of the staff, i.e., principal and assistant principal, department chairperson, librarian, counselors, teacher aides, etc.
Become acquainted with the students; learn their names.
Observe and discuss class interactions with the teacher.
TEACHING THE CLASS
Clinical Student teachers should plan to assume control of the class gradually. To help this process:
Plan cooperatively for instruction. The plans should include, but not be limited to, instructional goals and objectives, anticipatory set, the subject matter to be covered, the procedures to be used, lesson closure, audiovisual materials and other supplies needed, and evaluation of pupil achievement.
Utilize a variety of teaching materials and strategies in order to determine those which are most appropriate.
Develop and implement procedures for managing the class effectively during instruction, incorporating various groupings and presentation techniques.
Determine the students' developmental levels and provide commensurate instruction.
Participate in the evaluation and documentation of student progress and attendance.
Demonstrate an ability to continually assume greater responsibility in conducting the classes.
When not directly teaching, pre-service teachers should be assisting and observing in classes, with one period per day being reserved for preparation time.
PROFESSIONAL OBLIGATIONS
Student teachers must be responsible for their professional growth.
To accomplish this:
Contact the school, cooperating teacher, and University supervisor if illness prevents attendance.
Become involved in the total school program by participating in school assemblies, faculty and department meetings, P.T.A. meetings, athletic events, stage productions, parent conferences,
in-service activities, etc.
Meet with the cooperating teacher, apart from class time on a regular basis to review the instruction to date, critique teaching performance, and assist in planning daily lessons for the upcoming week.
Confer with the University supervisor on a regular basis.
Complete all requirements specified by your program area and clinical teaching handbook.
Observe, if appropriate at the end of the semester, the teaching of other master teachers in the building.
Arrangements must be made with the cooperating teacher, the University supervisor, the principal, if appropriate, and with the teacher to be observed.

Transport clients in the company vehicle to and from appointments and meetings, or hospital when necessary.
Interact with interns and volunteers and support and guide them when necessary.
Co-facilitate Resident meetings, assist with volunteer groups, and children's activities during adult groups.
Assist with special events and other program activities scheduled during the shift.
Provides back-up coverage to hotline phone calls, assesses the level of client risk, and as well as providing mental and emotional support by active listening, providing comforting words, and positive problem-solving.
Other Duties: Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, sociology, or similar with 6 months of experience working in a residential facility, shelter, or similar environment OR an associate degree and any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Bilingual, English/ Spanish, may be required for some roles.
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid Texas Driver's License and a clear driving record.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of domestic violence and client trauma.
Skilled in Microsoft Office applications.
Skilled in verbal de-escalation and crisis management.
Ability to maintain a clear and valid Texas driver's license.
Ability to communicate in both written and verbal formats to meet position responsibilities.
Ability to be sensitive to the language, economic, and cultural needs of clients.
Ability to safely drive a company vehicle to offsite locations and attend off-site meetings and events.
Maintains professional boundaries with clients at all times.
Protects client confidentiality.
Ability to work overtime when necessary to cover shifts.
Mental and Physical Duties:
Duties are usually performed seated with occasional periods of standing or walking.
Ability to perform physical tasks such as stooping, bending, reaching, and climbing to interact with children and clients.
A limited amount of physical effort is required, associated with walking, standing, lifting, and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) frequently.
Working Conditions:
Work may be performed, but is not limited to an office environment. Ability to work some weekends, evenings, and overnight hours
