The ResidentAssistant plays a key role in a client s health recovery by providing specialized care and medical attention at our shelters. The ResidentAssistant is responsible for:
Demonstrating excellent customer service consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission, and Values of the organization.
Observing and reporting any changes in physical condition, mood, or behavior.
Using de-escalation techniques to defuse verbal or physical altercations between guests and follow shelter safety protocols.

Assisting with housekeeping duties, such as cooking and cleaning.
Compensation:
Starting from $17.00 hourly up to $20.00, dependent on experience.
Requirements:
Six months to one year of security, customer service or nursing aid experience working with disenfranchised or medically fragile populations.
Physically capable of communicating with, caring for and facilitating activities for guests of all ages and varying comprehension levels.
Basic computer skills; able to navigate Google email, Microsoft applications and databases.
Expected Hours of Work:

Duties include but are not limited:
Orients residents to the apartment and community: Bathroom, call pendant system, shower schedule, and lanai/common areas; introduces to guests at table; informs of meal schedule and snack times; and informs of activity calendar and where activities are held.
Requesting inventory list from RCC/LN and ensuring that all items listed are accounted for, if not present, check with Housekeeping and Business Office Manager.
Strips bed and place linen in hamper if furnished.
Assistsresident with their physical needs including positioning, feeding, transporting, transferring and toileting, ambulating, personal hygiene, and dressing.
Assist with housekeeping duties as assigned: dusting, sweeping, mopping, re-stocking items, wiping down tables, chairs and hand rails, vacuuming, polishing, and cleaning bathrooms.
Ensures resident bed is made daily.
Wash, dry, fold and put away (as requested) resident personal laundry.
Assist with activities and appointments when required and/or be responsible for getting the resident to a scheduled activity.
Reviews care plans at least weekly and whenever an interim care plan is updated, changed or added.
Assistsresidents to designated table for meals/snacks.

Encourage participation in goals and activities recommended by their Case Manager and/or treatment plan(s). Work as a team with other Group Home program staff to ensure a consistent, structured, and therapeutic environment is maintained at all times.

Maintain knowledge of established rules governing participation, behavior, and general expectations concerning consumers. Reinforce rules and expectations as necessary. Promptly report issues or concerns and seek support or clarification from the Site Manager(s) and/or Residential Manager.

Participate in the daily general maintenance of the residence and yard. All residential sites are to be maintained in a neat, orderly, and clean condition that will ensure they will pass an inspection by any contracting or regulatory agency.
Ensure that appliances and safety equipment are maintained in working order. Promptly report needs to the Site Manager for follow-up.
Follow-up, as necessary, on needs addressed in the weekly inspection reports. May make minor repairs as necessary. Promptly report major repair needs or problems to the Site Manager.
Maintain a thorough knowledge of emergency procedures and appropriate evacuation procedures and ensure they are followed. Maintain a clearly posted evacuation route in case of emergency, emergency contact information next to each phone, and clearly posted first-aid information. Ensure that appropriate safety equipment such as flashlights, smoke detectors, and the first-aid kit are properly functioning and/or stocked with necessary supplies. Promptly report needs to the Site Manager for follow-up.

MAJOR DUTIES:

Assists in drafting programmatic budgets; maintaining programmatic partnerships; and drafting/editing speaker honorariums, partnership agreements, and consultant contracts, as required.
Manages the application process, which includes the preparation of participation application materials as well as the distribution, intake and organization of all program materials such as invitation letters, Center and program requirements, and participant biographies. Receives and acknowledges applications and accompanying documents and conducts follow-up communication with applicants; and assembles application packets for distribution to selection committees.
Assists participants during their programmatic activities, including serving as an escort to site visits as needed.
Provides administrative and fiscal support service for Seminars and Journalism staff including answering email and phone correspondence; compiling and drafting BOG reports and Seminars and Journalism impact reports; and assisting preparation of budget documents. Creates/finalizes travel requests, travel orders, travel completion, travel completion reports, purchases and other documentation for Seminars and Journalism staff. Also prepares fiscal documents in accordance with current policies and procedures for program activities.
Oversees development, editing, updating and maintaining of Seminars and Journalism webpages and sharing web-related concerns with the wider Center. Creates and manages program-specific websites housed offsite.
Manages the database of contact information, using Raiser's Edge and excel files, for institutional partners, participants, alumni, applicants, interested parties, etc. and ensures the data is current and accurate using Raiser's Edge and excel files.
Gathers information, creates/drafts copy and design, and edits and assists with the layout for program brochures, promotional and other program materials. Coordinates and compiles information for various reports and projects such as the annual infographics sheet and PowerPoint presentations. Handles mass mailings through mass marketing service providers such as Mail Chimp and creates/drafts/manages social media posts and blogsites using content provided by program coordinators.
Serves as a work leader for Seminars and Journalism student assistants: manages, assigns and oversees student work; and trains students. Assists in student hiring process. Supervises student assistants when program secretary is absent.
Drafts thank you cards, invitations, newsletters, brochures and other documentation as required for Seminars and Journalism events and activities. Document progress notes, which relate to each resident's care plan, when necessary and within the policy time frame.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field. (preferred)
Healthcare experience preferred.
