Role Overview:
The ResidentAssistant supports staff by facilitating the care and guidance of students and other youth during after-school and evening hours. You may be assigned to supervise students in dormitories, recreational facilities, dining facilities, and events under the supervision of the residential leader.
This is a second-shift position. Hours are:
* Sunday: 5:30 pm - 11:30 pm
* Monday - Thursday: 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm
* Friday: Off
* Saturday: Off
Salary:
This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $34,216 ($17.54 per hour). Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience. This is a 9-month position, but pay can be spread across 12 months.

A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are:
* Supervise students in dormitories, classrooms, lunchrooms, and off-campus trips under the supervision of the teacher or residential leader.
* Supervise student housekeeping activities and inspect dorms and living areas for safety and cleanliness.
* Prepare necessary materials as directed by the teacher and/or supervisor.
* Assist with activities outside the classroom and/or dormitories.
* Support discipline policy of the classroom/residential program resolving conflicts between students and assistingin monitoring behavior plans.
* Assure that student hygiene, toileting, and safety needs are met.
* Perform various duties providing for the guidance, care, training, development, and socialization of hearing and/or visually impaired, physically challenged or developmentally delayed students.
* Follow emergency procedures for fire, storm, and tornado drills and warnings.
* Promote the nine dimensions of student development, including cultural, intellectual, life planning, political, spiritual, physical, emotional, sexual, and social.
* Coordinate programs and recreational activities for students and complete and document programming plans, paperwork, incidents, and student progress.

This is a full-time 40-hour position. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and some holidays.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS
Assistsin activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, dressing, mobility, transferring, and feeding of assigned residents by providing set-up assistance, verbal prompts, physical support, or more extensive assistance.
Provides care in a manner that protects and promotes resident rights, dignity, privacy, confidentiality, self-determination and active participation. Offers and respects resident choices in matters of daily routine. Refers to residents by proper names unless resident requests otherwise. Avoids use of all pet names. Handles all resident property with respect.
Observes and immediately reports to Unit Charge Nurse, unusual occurrences, significant changes inresident's physical or behavioral condition, patterns of decreased social interaction, angry or sad behaviors, and refusals of treatment.
Washes hands before and after taking care of every resident. Cleans and stores equipment and personal care items. When caring for a resident, responsible for keeping the whole unit clean and in good order (includes making beds and cleaning mattresses).
Complies with the facility's privacy practices and procedures related to resident and employee records and all state/federal privacy laws as outlined by HIPAA.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Successful completion of a state approved or a Nursing Assistant training and competency evaluation program, or a CNA competency evaluation program approved by the State.
Possesses current CNA certificate.
Acceptable verification of training and competency evaluation from State Nurse Assistant Registry and no fining in the Registry concerning abuse, neglect, mistreatment of residents, or misappropriation of resident's property.
Ability to recognize changes inresident's conditions evidenced by physical symptoms, verbal expression, or observation of change in mental/psychosocial status.
