SUMMARY
The ResidentAssistant (RA) facilitates the social, academic, and personal adjustment of students to the residence hall and College. The RA develops a sense of community among residents as members of a floor, residents of a building, and active participants in the student housing system. The RA serves as a positive role model for residents and peer staff members. The RA enforces the policies and procedures of Student Housing and the College. The RA acts as a liaison between residents and College administration.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
* Attend and actively participate in Centennial Hall staff meetings and one-on-one meetings with the Coordinator and/or Director.
* Assist in the supervision of the residence hall by staffing scheduled on-call hours and promptly respond to all requests and emergencies. On-call hours are scheduled on a rotating basis and will include holidays.
* Attend and participate in staff training sessions before the beginning of each semester and throughout the year.
* Listen to residents' personal and academic concerns and guide them to campus and community resources.
* Assistresidents in their adjustment to roommate and community living. This includes, but is not limited to, being available to listen to and advise students on personal and academic concerns and appropriately referring them to Student Housing full-time staff and college resources.
* Under the direction of the Student Housing Director and Coordinator, design and implement events and activities for floor members that enhance residents' social, educational, community, and personal development.
* Conduct periodic floor meetings for the purpose of planning events and/or activities, disseminating information, and explaining residence hall policies and procedures.
* Under the direction of the Student Housing Director and Coordinator, appropriately mediate minor resident, and roommate conflicts. This includes, but is not limited to, reporting updates and escalating issues when necessary to the Student Housing Director and Coordinator.
* Report all witnessed violations of Student Housing and College policies to the Student Housing Coordinator and Director and promptly respond to all emergencies.
* Under the direction of the Coordinator, assist in activities related to the opening and closing of the residence halls. This includes, but is not limited to, designing, and constructing residence hall and door decorations, assessing the physical condition of rooms before and after occupancy, and participating in move-in activities.
* Perform other duties as assigned by the Student Housing Coordinator and/or Director.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* RAs must be enrolled in twelve (12) or more credit hours at KCKCC for the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters.
* *Exceptions may be granted by Student Housing Director based on academic program needs and/or graduation requirements.
* RAs must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average (GPA) for returning students and a 2.5 or equivalent GPA for students new to college (high school GPA).
* RAs must have a student housing conduct record which demonstrates their ability to be a good role model for residential students.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Previous experience as a ResidentAssistant or similar position.
* Experience living in a community living environment.

This includes day-to-day supervision of the student assistants, overseeing stack maintenance and shelving of library materials. The position reports attendance or other performance concerns related to the student assistants to the Learning and Success Strategies Coordinator or the Director of the Keleher Learning Commons.
