Chronic Disease Community Engagement and Planning Advisor
Resident Assistant Job 21 miles from Middletown
The Fund for Public Health in New York City (FPHNYC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is dedicated to the advancement of the health and well-being of all New Yorkers. To this end, in partnership with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), FPHNYC incubates innovative public health initiatives implemented by DOHMH to advance community health throughout the city. It facilitates partnerships, often new and unconventional, between government and the private sector to develop, test, and launch new initiatives. These collaborations speed the execution of demonstration projects, effect expansion of successful pilot programs, and support rapid implementation to meet the public health needs of individuals, families, and communities across New York City.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
With an annual budget of $1.6 billion and more than 6,000 employees throughout the five boroughs, the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYC DOHMH) is one of the largest public health agencies in the world, serving 8 million New Yorkers from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds. We're tackling a broad range of public health issues with innovative policies and programs and getting exceptional results, but our work is never finished. The breadth of our innovative programs provides the widest range of choices for every member of our team.
Since January 2020, DOHMH has been fighting the COVID-19 pandemic- activities include but are not limited to surveillance & epidemiological investigations; lab testing; engaging and providing guidance to healthcare partners; ensuring the safety & health of responders; providing timely and accurate information to the public; promoting the emotional health of New Yorkers and coordinating citywide COVID-19 vaccine administration. DOHMH works closely with community-based organizations (CBOs) to increase access to and awareness of COVID-19 prevention, treatment, and vaccination services. Consistent with the Health Department's decades long commitment to place-based investments, new work is focused on neighborhoods who have been hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, have low vaccination rates, and have been harmed by racial and ethnic health inequities. DOHMH seeks to continue place-based anti-racism interventions toward COVID-19 recovery and chronic disease prevention over the coming two years through continued investment in the Public Health Corps.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The DOHMH is seeking a Chronic Disease Community Engagement and Planning Advisor, to align multiple streams of environmental asthma trigger mitigation strategies and chronic disease prevention work until June 2026.

The Bureau of Bronx Neighborhood Health is seeking to hire a Chronic Disease Community Engagement and Planning Advisor who will be responsible for promoting and coordinating environmental asthma trigger mitigation strategies to improve the health status of neighborhoods disproportionately burdened with asthma. The Chronic Disease Community Engagement and Planning Advisor, with latitude for independent initiative and judgment, performs responsible work in any phase of community programs and engagement. This includes providing community engagement and programmatic support in promoting health equity and improved asthma management throughout the Bronx. The Chronic Disease Community Engagement and Planning Advisor will align activities, timelines, and deliverables across multiple workstreams in the borough and support this work.

Pastoral Resident
Resident Assistant Job 21 miles from Middletown
The purpose of Resound Project is to strengthen new and existing churches in light of the changing cultural context so that the gospel of Jesus Christ might resound to the next generation. We recognize that one of the greatest difficulties facing the church today is a lack of leadership that understands the unique features of this cultural moment and offers a vision for ministry that is adequate for the times in which we live. The Church needs to invest in the discipleship of emerging leaders in order to sustain a faithful encounter between the gospel and contemporary culture. To that end, Central Presbyterian Church in New York City is seeking to function as a "teaching hospital" through Resound Project, creating a pipeline of future leaders to serve the Church in a variety of different contexts.
The Emerging Leaders Programs provide various points of entry for qualified candidates who exhibit a desire to learn from our particular philosophy of ministry. The programs are based on life stage, educational level, and vocational interest.
For more information, go to Programs (resoundproject.org).
Salary: Undisclosed
Requirements
The Residency Program is offered to qualified male candidates who have graduated from seminary and are seeking ordination as ministers of the gospel. Candidates are selected for the Residency Program based on demonstrated leadership ability and the potential to play a significant role in the work of church renewal as pastors. After successful completion of the Residency Program, many residents become excellent candidates to serve as lead pastors of churches in need of renewal, assistant/associate pastors of larger churches within Resound's network, or church planters, depending on gifting and opportunity. The next class of residents will begin in September 2025.
