    Job Description THE STUDENT AFFAIRS AREA ANNOUNCES A PART-TIME OPENING IN RESIDENCE LIFE RESIDENCE LIFE COMMUNITY ASSISTANT Perform a variety of housing assignment, customer service and student activity functions in support of the Director and Coordinator and Residence Life. Assist with resident check - in and check - out. Assist with "on-the-spot" corrections of imminent or in-progress student violations of housing policies (i.e., quiet hours, pet policy, littering, etc.) Assist with other disciplinary corrections and follow up actions as directed. Rotate "on-call" duties for all of housing. Development of residential programming. Recruitment of future students, including Housing tours. Provide appropriate campus and community resources to students. Respond to crisis situations that may occur in the residence hall. Meet with students who have violated the Student Housing Contract as the first tier of policy violations as stated in the Student Housing Community Standards and Living Guide. Communicate effectively and respectfully with residents, families, faculty, advisors, and other constituents found on - campus. Distribute and assist with all paperwork and other administrative duties. Support Rose State College and Office of Residence Life initiatives. Evening and weekend educational or community building programming to support the goals of Residence Life. Intramural Sports Programming. Represent the Office of Residence Life at recruitment and large admissions functions. Attend and participate in staff training sessions and meetings. Perform other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma. One (1) year of office management, customer service management, facilities management or community services. Ability to multi-task and organize numerous projects. Proficiency with computers and MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook). Proper telephone etiquette. Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to maintain the highest degree of professionalism at all times. Light lifting up to 10 lbs. and light carrying up to 10 lbs. required. Sufficient manual dexterity for word processing and data entry. Visual acuity sufficient to identify original documents. Ability to reach above shoulder. Periods of time spent sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending and stooping. Desired Qualifications: Associate's degree in related field. Three (3) years' work experience in a field relating to Facility Management or Community Services; preferably in the area of higher education. Student Staff members are selected based on sensitivity to and interest in people, objectivity, and respect for the worth and dignity of the individual, open mindedness on issues that may arise, degree of empathy, the ability to handle autonomy and make decisions; sensitivity to privileged information; and his/her success within the academic community. Resident Advisers are role models. The main responsibility of a Resident Advisor is to provide support, encouragement, and leadership to his/her community. They should be available to their residents/community and empower them to grow and develop as good citizens. Student Staff help to establish a positive living/learning environment. Student Staff members are also required to live in the community for which he/she is responsible. Resident Advisors must be aware of each resident's individual academic achievement through on-going contact, know who may have academic/career difficulty, and have knowledge of available resources for academic assistance. Resident Advisors are responsible for the social development of residents within their individual floors as well as throughout the community. They will also be responsible for hall programming that will fulfill the four pillars of the university experience. Advisors will encourage students to take personal responsibility for establishing and implementing a community that is conducive to academic achievement (quiet hours, acceptance of members, visitation regulations, etc.) and takes appropriate action when needed. Student Staff members are also required to live in the community for which he/she is responsible; work collaboratively with Faculty-in-Residence and other academic resources; follows NCAA Compliance guidelines regarding student athletes; and comply with University's Academic Integrity Policies.Compensation:Room and Board (board provided is the standard equivalent of a 12 meal/ 250 points Meal Plan) during the period of employment when dining services are available (dining services may not be available during some times when staff are required to be on campus-additional meals may not be provided). The Resident Advisor will also receive a bi-weekly stipend in the amount of $127. The period of employment is defined as being any time when student staff are required to be on-campus for the fulfillment of their position. Board plans are subject to Housing & Dining Plans.
