The Washington Square Health Foundation has an immediate opening for a Program Assistant.
The Washington Square Health Foundation, Inc. grants funds in order to promote and maintain access to adequate healthcare for all people in the Chicagoland area regardless of race, sex, creed or financial need. The Foundation meets this goal through its grants for medical and nursing education, medical research and direct healthcare services.
The Program Assistant position provides both administrative and professional support to the Executive Director. The Program Assistant interfaces with the Public, Venders, Grantees and Board Members and reports directly to the Executive Director.
The position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Knowledge of not-for-profits and the not-for-profit Chicagoland scene, especially health care, is a plus. In addition, knowledge of Blackbaud or other grant management programs is a definite plus.
Requirements: The successful candidate will have a college degree (BA) or equivalent life experience in an applicable field, plus at least one year of relevant work experience.

Responsibilities: Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director, the Program Assistant:
Maintains office and grant files, including digital database, as well as document retention program. Insures accurate and speedy retrieval of Foundation documents;
Answers general phone and email inquires;
Maintains office calendar, including the Executive Director's;
Prepares all checks for signatures, maintains bank balances, and runs financial reports;
Initial review of all invoices for payment;
Monitors office communications via email, phone, and correspondence;
Maintains Foundation website;
Prepares documents for Board and Committee Meetings;
Represents the Foundation at designated professional meetings;
Prepares all grant documents and insures monitoring of receipt of grant documents and disbursement of funds;
Answers initial grant inquiries and/or forwards more complex inquiries to the Executive Director;
Is responsible for a portfolio of specific grant requests; including, initial recommendation, site visits, and evaluations;
Is privy to and maintains confidential Foundation information; and
Any other projects as may be assigned from time to time by the Executive Director.

Opportunity
Program Assistants for Uniting Voices Chicago serve a vital role as part of our program team. Key Responsibilities

Be a strong advocate and ambassador for the mission and legacy of Uniting Voices

Communication/Behavioral
Receive explicit permission from your Area Hall Director when seeking additional employment on or off campus. External outside commitments should not exceed 10 hours per week; this includes receiving permission in advance for all vacations, trips, study abroad trips, etc.
Understand that we may need to alter housing and RA assignments to ensure the best use of available space on campus, i.e.: changing a floor in an upper-class building to house first-year students. Be flexible and open if the nature of your community changes after placement.
Discuss all commitments beyond the RA position regularly with Area Hall Director to ensure proper time management.
Maintain full-time student status [12 credits]. Must seek permission from the Director of Residence Life if taking more than 18 credits.

Serves and assistsresidents with meals.
Knows location of assigned residents within the community.
Listens and responds to the needs of residents and staff members.
Monitors residents' general medical condition and reports changes to Wellness Leadership.
Respect and encourage the independence and dignity of residents.
Maintains current and accurate records through use of computers and/or other documentation in accordance with company standards and federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.
Inform the Health and Wellness Director or their designee of supply and equipment needs.
Attending all-employee and departmental meetings and in-service training as scheduled or as directed.
Completes routine light housekeeping and laundry tasks for the unit, such as emptying wastebaskets, cleaning tables after meals, etc. and reports any hazardous conditions to the Health and Wellness Director or their designee.
Completes resident's personal laundry as assigned.
Assist in maintaining a calm atmosphere.
Follow through with all assignments on a timely basis in accordance with chain of command when Health and Wellness Director is not on duty.
Report any unusual behavior of a resident to Wellness Leadership.
Learns, understands, and maintains residents' rights.
Follows established infection control and standard precaution policies, fire, and safety policies, and practices good body mechanics.
Attends training courses at community and maintains up to date monthly, quarterly, annual training through designated Learning Management System (LMS).
Attend all required all staff meetings.
Other duties as assigned, and which relate to the success of the community and the care, comfort, and happiness of our residents.
Requirements
EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
High school or equivalent.
STNA/CNA (Preferred).
CPR Certification (Preferred).
Must have strong understanding of the English language sufficient to read, write and interpret administrative information.

Job Description
Salary: $17.00 - $18.50 per hour, based on experience
Schedule: Part Time, NOC/Overnight, 10pm - 6am, varies plus every other Saturday and Sunday.
In this position, your main responsibilities will include:
Providing residents with assistance in the activities of daily living such as grooming, bathing and maintaining their personal environment.
Transporting residents within the community to activities, other departments, or dining.
Responding to emergency calls, resident and/or visitor requests, and environmental hazards in a timely, appropriate, and safe manner.
Reviewing and adhering to resident care plans as well as obtaining vital signs.
Qualifications
To be successful in this position, we believe that you need the following experiences and skills.
High School diploma or equivalent is required
All state educational requirements for the position must be met.
CPR certification preferred.
Experience working with an elderly population is preferred.
A calm, helpful, and respectful countenance is appreciated.
