Job Title: Student Resident Assistant, Academic Year F26-S27 Reports to: Steven Munoz and Madelyn Youngs, Assistant Directors of Residence Life Resident Assistant, 2026-2027 Academic Year DigiPen Housing and Residence Life supports student residents as they pursue their education at DigiPen. Housing and Residence Life plays an integral role in the college experience by providing students with a safe and supportive environment through our established Residence Life Program. Resident Assistants have the unique opportunity to build community through being accessible, providing an array of social, educational, and recreational activities, encouraging resident interaction, and being a role model as an interested and active member of the DigiPen community. The position requires an individual who is flexible enough to assume a variety of roles as dictated by the changing needs of students. It is crucial that an individual be able to relate well to others and handle administrative responsibilities. Qualifications and Requirements Academic Standing * Be a full-time enrolled student (minimum of 12 units per semester or 9 units for graduate students) at DigiPen Institute of Technology for the duration of the 2026-2027 Academic Year. * Maintain a cumulative and semester GPA of 2.5 or higher at the time of application, appointment and throughout the duration of employment. College Experience * Be in good financial and judicial standing with DigiPen Institute of Technology and Housing and Residence Life. * Preferred experience of having lived in DigiPen Housing and Residence Life for at least one academic semester. Personal Competencies * Willingness to collaborate and maintain healthy team relationships with different dynamics and needs. * Strong written and verbal communication. * Demonstrate the mission of DigiPen Housing and Residence Life to create and maintain supportive environments for all residents. Special Conditions * All appointed and hired Residents Assistants are not allowed to hold a student position classified as a Federal Work Study Position. For individual questions, please contact DigiPen Financial Aid. * Note: Resident Assistant compensation is calculated towards the allocated financial aid award package. * All appointed and hired Residents Assistants cannot be employed as Orientation Leaders (OLs). Expected dates of employment: August 17th, 2026 - April 26th, 2027 Expected number of hours per week: 10 * Once again, students are not permitted to work during any time when they are scheduled for a class. * Compensation As compensation for the 2026-2027 Academic Year, Resident Assistants will receive the following benefits: * A compensated shared double room in DigiPen Housing and Residence Life. Valued at approximately $11,690. * A $250 meal stipend in the form of a Kroger Gift Card over 9 months (August-April) during the period of employment. Time Commitments All appointed Resident Assistants must be available during the following time periods and commitments: * August 17th - 21st 2026: Resident Assistant Training * August 21st 2026: First Year Move In * August 29th 2026: Returning Student Move In * December 12th, 2026: Move out inspections for all non-Spring continuing students * Monthly In-Service Trainings (dates vary by each month) * Typically, the 3rd Monday of each month at 7pm. * April 25th 2027: Move out Inspections for all non-continuing students Responsibilities Community Development and Resident Engagement * Brainstorms, proposes and facilitates monthly programs and activities designed to meet the needs of residents in conjunction with the department guiding pillars as outlined in the residential curriculum. * Conducts weekly rounds in the apartment communities to ensure residents well-being, safety and belonging. * Refers residents to various campus departments such as (but not limited to): Student Success Advisors, Counseling, Tutoring Services and Registered Clubs and Organizations. In addition, refers residents to other community resources as needed. * Maintains visibility and accessibility to assigned residents to assist with: roommate agreements, roommate mediations and other concerns as needed. Crisis Management, Policy Enforcement and Facilities Support * Conducts Health and Safety Inspections in all assigned apartments per semester to address any units of concern and policy violations. * Assists residents in understanding apartments maintenance and best practices to promote a healthy and comfortable living environment. * Addresses and reports outstanding policy violations per the Housing and Residence Life Handbook as needed. * Educates residents on their actions and the impact within the apartment community. * Participates in a duty rotation throughout each semester including Thanksgiving and Spring Break to answer calls, respond to emergencies and escalate incidents as needed to the Professional Staff on Duty. Administrative Tasks * Regularly submit reports such as, but not limited to: Rounds Report, Health and Safety Inspection Report, Move-In and Move-Out Reports, Incident Reports, Community Builder Proposals, Purchase Proposals and other reports as training and assigned. * Regularly attend team meetings, 1-on-1s with supervisor, training, in-services as scheduled and required. The duties of the Commission shall be as follows: Set the goals and scope of an annual, community-wide needs assessment, which the Office shall conduct, to identify and prioritize needs for out-of-school-time programs and establish targets for out-of-school-time funding. Draft and approve a strategic plan for out-of-school-time programs and funding ("strategic plan") in the District that encourages interagency and community coordination and promotes equitable access for youth and families to high-quality youth development programs. (B) The strategic plan shall draw on the data gathered and analyzed by the Office, including the annual community-wide needs assessment, to identify and resolve gaps in the distribution of out-of-school-time programs and funding, with a particular emphasis on at risk students, geographic distribution of out-of-school-time programs and funding, and program quality. Review, on a regular basis, the efforts of the Office to fulfill the goals and priorities of the strategic plan. Review, on a regular basis, the efforts of other relevant District agencies to cooperate in achieving the strategic plan, including review of the allocation of out-of-school-time funding in school budgets, to the extent such data is available, and how such allocation aligns with the need. Identify areas for improved collaboration, problem-solving, and cooperation among District agencies regarding out-of-school-time programs and funding. Inform and approve plans for assessing the quality of out-of-school-time programs developed by the Office. COMMISSION MEMBERSHIP The Commission shall consist of 21 members who represent key community stakeholder constituencies or are District agency administrative heads or their designees, including: The Director of the Office of Out of School Time Grants and Youth Outcomes The Deputy Mayor for Education; The State Superintendent of Education The Chancellor of the District of Columbia Public Schools The Executive Director of the Public Charter School Board The Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation The Chairperson of the Council committee with jurisdiction over matters related to public education At least 8 nongovernmental members. Non-governmental members shall comprise a majority of the Commission. QUALIFICATIONS Nongovernmental members of the Commission shall be representative of the District's various geographic neighborhoods and stakeholder constituencies, including consumers and providers of youth development programs, organizations that advocate for the needs of youth, and District higher education, philanthropic, workforce development, and cultural institutions; provided, that, at the time of appointment: At least one member is a consumer of youth development programs in the District; and At least 2 members are representatives of organizations providing youth development programs in the District.
