SCOPE OF ROLE
Reporting to the Manager, Residential Services, the Counselor, Residential Services, is responsible for assessing the treatment needs of patients in residential SUD treatment, implementing an appropriate treatment plan, and evaluation of patient behavior and outcomes. What does a Therapeutic Program Worker do?
A Therapeutic Program Worker (TPW) is a direct care worker that helps residents with daily living skills and assists them with becoming more independent, to achieve their goals. Support given to the individual will vary based on each person's needs and capabilities.
Key TPW Tasks:
* Assists with eating, bathing, toileting, personal hygiene, oral hygiene, dressing, grooming, communication, money management, etiquette, and social skills
* Implements active treatment activities such as gym, pavilion, activity room and pool
* Assists with planning and shopping activities (e.g., shopping, vocational skills, hair appointments)
* Complete various daily, monthly documentation
* Including documentation any unusual incidents or reporting any reaction to medication
* Perform light housekeeping duties in the living areas

Here are a few of the daily responsibilities:
* Assist all residents/clients with a high quality of personal care, including but not limited to; bathing, dressing, grooming, shaving, incontinent care, foot care, vital signs, height and weight checks per policy.
* Assist residents with mealtime. Cut food. Encourage to eat.
* Complete and document shift assignments as assigned, if unable to complete, report to nursing supervisor.

Resident Aide provides care for the residents in Assisted Living. Resident Aides provide care within their scope of training and any directives from the Charge Nurse.
What will I do as a Resident Aide with Genacross?
Provide quality personal care to ensure that residents are comfortable and are provided with the highest quality of care. Adheres to all guidelines learned and state guidelines as well as comply with Genacross policies and procedures.
Complete administrative requirements to ensure that proper documentation is maintained. Completes paperwork, medical forms, charting and all required documentation as a part of the resident care process and the transition of care process.
Assist the residents with daily tasks related to dining and the resident activities program.
Follow care plan functions to meet the specific needs of each resident. Focus on resident's individualized needs and encourage resident's ability to make personal choices.
Reports allegations of abuse/neglect and reports, as appropriate, to proper organization leadership.
Reports hazardous incidents, including but not limited to, injuries, equipment, etc. to the appropriate Manager/Supervisor.
Accepts direction of charge nurse in relation to direct resident care.
Resident Aide Requirements:
Must have or be willing to complete the required training for the position of Resident Aide Assistant including first-aid training.
Must be at least 16 years old.
Must be medically capable of performing the duties described.
Must demonstrate an ability to read, write, understand and communicate job-related information and directions in English.
Must be able to work flexible hours and holidays.
Familiarity with basic computer skills. Ability to learn new software applications as required by the position.
