GENERAL FUNCTION:

Provide guidance, direction and supervision to students in assigned dormitory in accordance with PRH Chapter 3; 3.16 Residential Living. Assist students in achievement of academic, career technical training, and employability goals. Assist students in development of self-management, independent living and community living skills. Model workplace expectations, and mentor and monitor students in achieving the Career Success Standards competencies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or equivalent required.Education above the high school level with experience working with youth in a residential setting preferred.

Licenses or Certificates

n A valid Driver's License is required.

Thursday and Friday 3 p.m to 12 a.m and Saturday and Sunday 11:30 a.m to 12:30 a.m

Wednesday and Friday 3 p.m to 12 a.m and Saturday and Sunday 11:30 a.m to 12:30 a.m

Tuesday and Friday 3 p.m to 12 a.m and Saturday and Sunday 11:30 a.m to 12:30 a.m

Wage $15.50 - $15.75 per hour

Reports to the Senior Residential Advisor. Responsible for providing proper guidance to students to ensure positive group living relations and achievement in the program, in compliance with government, corporate, and management directives.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Provides guidance for students to achieve positive attitudes and proper behavior in dormitory living situations and to accomplish their goals and objectives in obtaining self-management skills.
  • Determines, recommends, and arranges student visits to Counselors.
  • Patrols and monitors dormitories and center as required, ensuring safety and proper behavior of students; resolves potential or occurring problems.
  • Assists with recreational activities for students on and off center as required.
  • Prepares reports, and other administrative correspondence relating to students.
  • Directs and assists students in the cleanup of the dormitory.
  • Conducts group sessions in accordance with the schedule and maintains required documentation; as assigned, participates in Career Preparation Period (CPP) activities.
  • Provides students guidance in social skills development and self-management skills.
  • Models, mentors, and monitors the positive normative culture of the center.
  • Reports violations of ethical behavior.
  • Identifies and reports environmental health and safety concerns.

Requirements

Education: High school diploma or GED, Associate’s degree in behavioral sciences preferred

Experience: Two years of related experience in counseling, social work, rehabilitation, or vocational guidance or working with youth .

Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to promote the Career Success Standards (CSS) by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students when necessary, and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions

• Strong organizational skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Computer proficiency

• I-9 documentation required to verify authorization to work in the United States

• Ability to pass pre-employment drug test and background check

Additional Requirements: Must have valid driver's license and adequate vehicle insurance coverage.

Primary Position Objectives

Responsible for a paraprofessional level of student support and performance duties necessary for an orderly operation of the dormitory program. Responsible for the supervision of students to ensure a safe and secure environment. Follows policies and procedures in accordance with DOL, PRH, Center and Serrato Corporation requirements.

  • Ensures orderly, clean living conditions by scheduling and supervising clean up and submitting repair requests.
  • Provides supervision for the cafeteria, laundry, special activities (on and off Center) and other areas of the program as scheduled or assigned.
  • Identifies and assists students in handling special problems and conducts dormitory meetings.
  • Maintains communication with students’ counselors, instructors, and with other staff members.
  • Attends staff in-service training sessions and other training or meetings as directed.
  • Establishes a close working relationship with students, dealing justly and impartially regardless of their ability, achievement or background, and works to motivate them toward goals.
  • Initiates and directs dormitory programs, utilizing Center services and activities to benefit students.
  • Follows all non-health standing orders.
  • Transports students to various activities and events as needed.
  • Maintains an environment wherein students and staff feel safe and secure.
  • Maintains logbooks as directed and authorized that show activity during shift.
  • Ensures case notes and other entries in CIS are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Secures students personal property/items when a student is absent for 24 hours; all items are to be placed in property and logged.
  • Submits time sheets according to Residential Living Supervisor. • Assists and trains student leaders per center policy.
  • Participates in intramural programs.
  • Ensures students meet their evening schedule.
  • Provides support for safety and security on center.
  • Ensures that buildings are secure and clean at all times.
  • Conducts periodic checks and maintains order and discipline in his/her assigned dorm.
  • Works towards meeting performance management goals.
  • Follows the CDSS plan and Code of Conduct system daily.
  • Complies with all DOL guidelines, OFCCP regulations, Job Corps notices and bulletins and Center policies and procedures.
  • Models, mentors, monitors appropriate Career Success Standards.
  • Helps students become more employable through continuous reinforcement.
  • Participates in PRH mandated staff training. Failure to participate may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.
