We are dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic violence through comprehensive services, including a 24-hour crisis hotline, emergency shelter, counseling, legal advocacy, and community education. Position Overview: The EVE Advocate works closely with partners in the criminal justice system to identify survivors of domestic violence in high lethality cases. Assesses survivors' needs and provides advocacy and case management services to the individuals and families involved, including support throughout the criminal court process. Key Responsibilities: Works to make initial contact build rapport and then work directly with survivors to determine areas of need, set goals, and when appropriate develop a service management plan. Provides referrals with community service providers to facilitate accomplishment of service management plan. Provides advocacy, court accompaniment and witness preparation to victims in criminal cases. Provides support to survivors of domestic violence throughout the prosecution process. Provides immediate support, advocacy, safety planning, lethality assessments and crisis intervention counseling to survivors of domestic violence. Builds and maintains excellent working relationships with law enforcement agencies and other community partners. Provides referrals to Outreach Case Managers for services management and resources. Participate in service management review with peers, supervisors, and staffing meetings. Work closely with Harbor House Shelter Services to ensure coordination of services. Interviews survivors regarding the history of abuse and other related information. Whenever possible, this information will be gathered prior to the defendant's initial appearance in court. Conducts follow-up meetings with survivors to assess progress toward completion of service management goals and identify areas requiring further assistance. Enter survivor data and services offered into agency database. Conducts required community education training as identified in grant deliverables. Qualifications: Education: Minimum of an undergraduate degree in Social Work, Legal Studies, Criminal Justice, or related field is preferred. Experience: A minimum of 2 years of service management experience, preferably in a domestic violence program, law enforcement or other related victim advocate program. Discretion: Professional experience may be substituted for formal education at the discretion of the Chief Executive Officer. Licensing: Valid Florida Driver's License with a clean record for the past 5 years. Must be 21 years or older to meet agency insurance requirements. Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to learn organization-specific software, including databases and content management systems. Strong professional writing and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail. Knowledge of case management, and the ability to provide effective and immediate crisis intervention. Training Requirements: Completion of CORE Competency training within 90 days of hire.
