The counselor has to present, carry-out and participate in the program while insuring the total safety of the participants. The counselor must have skills in working with, caring for, and engaging school-age youth. The counselor should also have skills in basic First Aid, CPR and facility safety. In addition, he/she must be able to carry out plans in a positive way. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To maintain safety at all times by never leaving children unattended. Have total accountability for his/her group. Participate positively in activities with the children. Maintain upkeep of equipment, supplies, facilities, and vehicles. Attend scheduled staff meetings. Spend individual time with each child when given the opportunity. Any duties as assigned by YMCA Key Staff and/or management staff.
