Job Description Provides on-site support within Red Rock BHS supportive housing units. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs various support duties in relation to housing demands. The employee is a paraprofessional support person who gives basic breastfeeding information and encouragement to WIC pregnant and breastfeeding mothers. Document appropriate counseling information, such as participant name, date and time spent with participants in clinic records within 24 hours of contact. Complete and turn in Breastfeeding Peer Counseling Monthly Activity Report to the local Breastfeeding Peer Counseling Coordinator according to WIC policy. Keep participant files in a secure environment, that is, a locked drawer, etc. Attending all Breastfeeding Peer Counselor meetings and in-services. Abide by clinic policy concerning participant confidentiality and dress code. Provide appropriate referrals when needed. Breastfeeding Peer Counselors may also be allowed to bring their nursing baby/babies to work per the discretion of the local Administrator. Driving to off-site locations to perform job duties as needed. Completes required training in support of duties and responsibilities of this position. The Residential Advisor is responsible for a paraprofessional level of student support and performance duties necessary for the orderly operation of the dormitory program. Responsible for the supervision of students to ensure a safe and secure environment. The selected incumbent must be available to work any shift and day of the week due to a 24/7 operation. Shift: The prime shift hours are 3:00 PM to Midnight. Responsibilities: Ensures orderly, clean-living conditions by scheduling and supervising clean-up and submitting repair requests. Provides supervision for the cafeteria, laundry, special activities (on and off Center), and other areas of the program as scheduled or assigned. Identifies and assists students in handling special problems and conducts dormitory meetings. Maintains communication with students' counselors, instructors, and with other staff members. Attends staff in-service training sessions and other training or meetings as directed. Establishes a close working relationship with students, dealing justly and impartially regardless of their ability, achievement or background, and works to motivate them toward goals. Initiates and directs dormitory programs, utilizing Center services and activities to benefit students. Follows all non-health standing orders. Transports students to various activities and events as needed. Maintains an environment wherein students and staff feel safe and secure. Maintains logbooks as directed and authorized that show activity during shift. Ensures case notes and other entries in CIS are accurate and up to date. Secures student's personal property/items when a student is absent for 24 hours; all items are to be placed in property and logged. Submits time sheets according to the Residential Living Supervisor. Assists and trains student leaders per center policy. Participate in intramural programs. Ensure students meet their evening schedule. Provides support for safety and security in the center. Ensures that buildings are secure and clean at all times. Conducts periodic checks and maintains order and discipline in his/her assigned dorm. Works towards meeting performance center goals. Follows the CDSS plan and Code of Conduct system daily. Comply with all DOL guidelines, OFCCP regulation, Quality Assurance Plan (QAP) Bizzell policies and procedures, Job Corps notices and bulletins, and Center policies and procedures. Adheres to required property control policies and procedures. Maintains good housekeeping in all areas and complies with safety practices. Models, mentors, and monitors appropriate Career Success Standards. Helps students become more employable through continuous reinforcement. Participates in PRH-mandated staff training. Proficiency with advanced Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel. Computer literacy with basic computer functions, email, internet, and basic programs such as Adobe Acrobat. Ability to develop and maintain professional and collaborative relationships with students. Knowledge of residential living and dormitory procedures and practices. High level of communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Education and Experience: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. An associate's degree in a human services field such as Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, or related fields is preferred. Minimum one year working with youth or related experience and/or training. Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift and /or move up to 25 pounds. Requirements EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Must have an interest in and like children and exemplify and support the YMCA philosophy. Must exemplify and support and support the philosophy of the YMCA. Must have a high school diploma or GED. Must be 16 years of age. Must be certified in CPR, AED, O2, and First Aid.
