Compassionate Substance Use Counselor Needed! The Substance Use Counselor will be in charge with assisting patients through medically assisting programs and offering techniques for handling opioid addiction. The counselor conducts group sessions and individual sessions to assist with crisis management and coping strategies. Additionally, counselor will evaluate patients' progress during therapy. Substance Use Counselors may also need to collaborate with doctors, nurses and therapists for patients' therapy and treatment for best overall outcome. Responsibilities: * Counselor will conduct individual and group counseling sessions. * Coordinate care of assigned patients and present patient status and concerns with treatment team accordingly. * Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and the development and implementation of patient treatment plans according to State regulatory requirements * Provide clinical services and patient care and education and opiate addiction counseling services to patients * Excellent documentation and computer skills required * Other related duties as determined by supervisor Candidate should have at least one of the following qualifications: * Master's Degree or higher in fields like chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing (with clinical specialization), or a related field with practical experience, preferably in a drug and alcohol setting. A plan is required if the experience is not in this setting. * Bachelor's Degree in specified fields and 1 year of clinical experience (1,820 hours), preferably in a drug and alcohol setting. A plan is needed if the experience is elsewhere. * Associate Degree in specified fields and 2 years of clinical experience (3,640 hours), preferably in a drug and alcohol setting. A plan is required if the experience is in a different setting. * Full certification as an addictions counselor from a statewide certification body that is a member of a National certification body or certification by another state government's substance abuse counseling certification board. * Must demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude toward our patient population * Understanding of an EMR system (electronic medical records) * Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check. Job Description Residential Services, Direct Care Service Title: Residential Advisor Responsible to: Program Manager General Description of Duties and Responsibilities: Residential Advisors are responsible for maintaining a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment which fosters growth and rehabilitation and facilitates the development of mutual aid/self help skills among individuals. Staffs primary role is to provide the appropriate and effective behavioral supports tailored to the needs and desires of each individual to enable each to live as independently as possible. Residential Advisors are expected to recognize when an individual is in a crisis and be able to utilize the appropriate comprehensive crisis management training, psychiatric, medical back up services and/or the crisis team involved with the individual. Specific Duties: Assist/monitor/teach individuals with preparation of daytime activities; encourage good personal hygiene, and behavior appropriate in their home or apartment. Assist the Residential supervisor in the assessment of each individuals(s) ability, interests and need areas toward independent living. Provide input in the development of each ISP. The staffs behavior and interaction with individuals shall be directed towards the attainment of goals set forth within each ISP. Assist/monitor/teach individuals(s) in budgeting skills. Teach self medication skills according to ODP regulations, and when appropriate supervise in medication administration. Assist/monitor/teach individuals engaging in daily chores. Assist/monitor/teach individuals as needed in grocery shopping, menu planning, meal preparation and clean up. Meet with individuals (as needed) on an individual basis to discuss concerns, problems. Assist/monitor/teach individuals in holding house meetings and informal discussion groups with peers. Handle emergency situations appropriately, (according to AIMED and ODP policies). Utilize crisis interventions when necessary. Teach and/or support individuals in utilizing public transportation. Transport individuals to appropriate appointments when necessary (i.e. person requires assistance at appointment). Perform daily record keeping (i.e. data collection, daily logs). Exchange information with next shift and/or with support staff. Teach and be supportive of basic nutrition. Assist individuals to utilize community resources from nutritional counseling. Teach relationship building skills. Teach community integration; assist individuals in joining community organizations of their choice. Teach problem solving skills/resolving conflicts. Provide leisure/recreational activities of individual(s) choice, increase individuals self initiative in leisure activities. Teach/monitor individuals self management skills (in health and behavior management). Teach individuals basic first aid, fire safety, emergency skills and sex education, and/or assist individual in locating a class (community resource) in the above stated items. Provide opportunities for individuals to have choices, make decisions in daily living and their future goals (i.e. assist individual in day to day decisions). Assist in creating natural supports for individuals. Assist individuals in building their self esteem. .Encourage empowerment. Follow individual treatment plans consistently. Conduct and document monthly fire drills according to ODP procedures. Report any consumer (individual) abuse (physical, emotional, sexual) or act of omission to the Allegheny County adult Abuse line. Be available to meet with repair person(s) and inspectors. Utilize on call and crisis team when necessary. Attend mandatory trainings and site team meetings. Implement OSHA regulations. Lifting, snow shoveling and climbing stairs. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Residential Advisor play a critical role in the overall success of our Residential Services. As natural role models, Residential Advisors must have the following personal qualifications: The minimum professional qualifications for Residential Advisors is a High School Diploma and one year of Human Service work experience. Training provided to those with less experience. Medication administration certification. Must be 21 years old or older. Autonomy ability to work without immediate supervision. Interpersonal sensitivity (objective awareness of others, tactful interaction, ease in establishing limits). Reliability and flexibility Insight and the ability to articulate it. Valid drivers license and the ability to drive a van. Crisis intervention training (i.e. non violent crisis intervention, positive approach, etc) CPR, First Aid and AED. All Capitol Debate staff are considered Camp Counselors first and foremost. Job Overview Capitol Debate Summer Camps is seeking Junior Instructors/Residential Advisors for our summer camps running from June 14 to August 7, 2025. We host camps in 15 cities throughout the country, offering a great travel opportunity. This role combines instructional duties with responsibilities in residential life. Applicants must be able and willing to live on campus during the camp duration. Staff must be available a minimum of 6 weeks during the summer to be considered. Responsibilities Instructional Duties not limited to: Mentor and assist with the planning and implementation of residential activities Help students with research, writing their cases or presentations, and provide feedback Judge student competitions and help facilitate student showcases Residential Life Duties not limited to: Act as a mediator, encourager, cheerleader, mentor, and motivator in residential life activities Ensure active student participation and supervise student safety in all activities and dorm life. Conduct room checks at curfew and monitor residential halls until midnight for student safety Assist with planning and implementation of residential activities. General Duties not limited to: Attend all staff meetings during the camp Assist with first and last-day camp ceremonies and activities including setting up of materials Provide any additional support as requested by Camp Director or Residential Life Directors Time Commitment Participate in approximately 10 hours of pre-camp training focused on camp and residential life Attend a minimum of 3, 2 week camp sessions, totaling 6 weeks of camp. Requirements Requirements & Experience Counselors/junior instructors are often current college students or recent high school graduates with a background in public speaking and debate (including activities like DECA, Model UN, and Mock Trials). Experience working in youth-based programs is a plus. Required attendance at training sessions and planning meetings leading up to our summer program, including an all-staff orientation and training on Day 0. Returning Counselors are eligible for increased responsibilities and compensation. Staff may need to walk long distances under summer conditions and share dorm rooms with fellow counselors of the same gender.
