The new Center for Inpatient Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at Somerville will provide a transformative continuum of patient and family-centered care for diverse youth with mental health needs.
The Adolescent Unit is a new secured 21 bed psychiatric unit that provides care for children between the ages of 12 and 18. The unit is located in Somerville Hospital. This is an acute care unit, working on assessment, stabilization and after care treatment planning. We have a multidisciplinary team focused on teaching self-control, de-escalation and restraint reduction. This approach is used to provide patient and family centered care.
CHA provides specialist assessment and care for children who have severe mental health needs. We provide comprehensive services for adolescents experiencing complex and persistent emotional and behavioral difficulties due to behavioral health disorders.
Job Purpose
The Milieu Counselor is a member of the multidisciplinary team who, under the supervision of a registered nurse, is responsible for a safe and structured service as well as attending to the individual needs of patients in crisis in an inpatient psychiatric setting.
The role of a Milieu Counselor will assist with ADL'S lead or co-lead groups, perform safety checks, 1:1 meetings with patients, and will accurately chart patients B/P, TPR & weight. Notifies RN of any changes in vital signs. Accurately measures and documents patient's intake and output. Assists patients following through with ADL's (bathing, laundry, toileting, organizing room), maintaining nutritional and hydration needs, and assisting and monitoring the patient's needs and other tasks as assigned by the charge RN.
Qualifications/Experience:
High school diploma required; B.A, B.S., or M.A. preferred or equivalent years of human service experience.
Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Prior human services, behavioral or psychiatric experience strongly preferred. Inpatient psychiatric experience is preferred.

Primary responsibility for reviewing, commenting on and negotiating contracts for goods and services, with oversight and support of other attorneys as needed.
Primary responsibility for drafting and updating the Vendor Policy and supporting procedures (vendor contracting and vendor management).
Support the Bank's vendor managers within the business units with vendor selection and pre-contract due diligence obligations, as required by the Vendor Policy and supporting procedures.
Serve as the “Legal SME” in the Bank's vendor due diligence and vendor monitoring processes; provide secondary support to vendor managers and internal subject matter experts in their ongoing vendor monitoring and review obligations.
Facilitate the Bank's diversity and inclusion efforts in the supplier diversity area, particularly with respect to supporting regulatory reporting obligations and participating in the FHLBank System counsel OMWI Procurement subgroup.
Attains and maintains a thorough knowledge of the law and current legal developments in areas of responsibility.
Attains and maintains an understanding of laws and regulations of specific applicability to the Federal Home Loan Bank System.

Education & Credentials
Graduation from an accredited law school is required.
Current license to practice law in any state of the United States is required for consideration.
If not already licensed in Massachusetts, the selected candidate must be able to meet the necessary requirements for licensure within Massachusetts within an agreed-upon timeframe.
Experience
Minimum of 3 years' relevant combined experience in a law firm and/or corporate law department is ideal for this role.
Knowledge/Skills
Contract review, drafting and negotiating skills required, particularly a demonstrated ability to manage and react to third party documentation in a variety of contexts.
Strong issue-spotting, problem-solving, negotiating, and analytic ability must be demonstrated.
Strong interpersonal skills, particularly active listening, influence and building productive professional relationships, are required for success in this position.

a. Speaks with Care Progression staff about proposed plan.
b. Meets with patient and or designated contact to offer patient choice for Post-Acute vendors.
c. Create referral for Post-Acute Acute Rehab, Skilled Nursing Facility, Homecare or other post-acute vendor.
d. Communicate with Post-Acute vendor obtaining acceptance or denial of patient's care and communicating this to the RN Case Manger or Clinical Social Worker.
e. May communicate with patient or designated contact under partnership with the RN Case Manager, Social Worker or Case Manager Specialist to obtain final decision of vendor selection.
f. Clearly document in the electronic medical record the referral being sent and any communication with the Post-Acute vendor for availability to review by the clinical team.
5) Acts as a communication liaison between all members of the care team and the patient/family as it may pertain to care coordination, concerns and barriers.
a. Maintains up to date communication with whole team.
b. Maintain up to date documentation reflective of changes who, and why the changes were made in EMR.
