Compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor Needed! Substance abuse counselor will be in charge with assisting patients through medically assisting programs and offering techniques for handling opioid addiction. Substance abuse counselor conducts group sessions and individual sessions to assist with crisis management and coping strategies. Residential Advisors are expected to recognize when an individual is in a crisis and be able to utilize the appropriate comprehensive crisis management training, psychiatric, medical back up services and/or the crisis team involved with the individual. The Residential Advisors play a critical role in the overall success of our Residential Services and are looked at as natural role models. Specific Duties: Assist/monitor/teach individuals with preparation of daytime activities; encourage good personal hygiene, and behavior appropriate in their home or apartment. Assist the Residential supervisor in the assessment of each individuals(s) ability, interests and need areas toward independent living. Provide input in the development of each ISP. The staffs behavior and interaction with individuals shall be directed towards the attainment of goals set forth within each ISP. Assist/monitor/teach individuals(s) in budgeting skills. Teach self medication skills according to ODP regulations, and when appropriate supervise in medication administration. Assist/monitor/teach individuals engaging in daily chores. Assist/monitor/teach individuals as needed in grocery shopping, menu planning, meal preparation and clean up. Meet with individuals (as needed) on an individual basis to discuss concerns, problems. Assist/monitor/teach individuals in holding house meetings and informal discussion groups with peers. Handle emergency situations appropriately, (according to AIMED and ODP policies). Utilize crisis interventions when necessary. Teach and/or support individuals in utilizing public transportation. Transport individuals to appropriate appointments when necessary (i.e. person requires assistance at appointment). Perform daily record keeping (i.e. data collection, daily logs). Exchange information with next shift and/or with support staff. Teach and be supportive of basic nutrition. Assist individuals to utilize community resources from nutritional counseling. Summary of the position: The Mental Health Worker/Mental Health Professional will work therapeutically with clients under the clinical direction of the Regional Supervisor and will maintain best practice standards. Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Deliver comprehensive home-based services Evaluate client's mental health condition based on a review of clinical information Develop and maintain positive working relationship with referring agency staff, schools, and community resources. Provide Safety and Crisis plans for all clients served Ensure admissions are promptly processed Comply with HIPAA, Mandated Reporting, Duty to Warn, and Duty to Protect Laws in all clinical work. Utilize Motivational Interviewing as a tool and provide monthly session recordings Coordinate treatment services and attend treatment meetings as needed Apply cultural sensitivity in clinical and professional work Meet or exceed clinical productivity targets Management position: No Working Conditions: This is a community-based position. Mental Health Workers are community-based employees who provide services in homes, schools, and communities. Must have a valid drivers license. Requirements: Mental Health Worker: Bachelor's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field. A minimum of two years' experience in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field. Mental Health Professional: Master's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field.
