Your Job as a Substance Use Counselor: The Substance Use Counselor is instrumental in our patient's treatment and recovery from opioid use disorder. Substance Use Counselors provide high quality, compassionate care through various mediums which include both individual and group counseling sessions. Job Responsibilities: Provide high quality, compassionate guidance in both individual and group counseling sessions. Plan, oversee, facilitate and document patient's recovery. Co-facilitate assigned group or family sessions as needed. Ensure all documentation regarding patient care, treatment, and incidents is completed timely and in a clear, concise manner. Prepare individual treatment plans for each assigned patient. Initial assessments as well as follow up assessments. Your duties will include intake assessments, crisis screenings in the clinic and community, effective case management and community crisis assistance in partnership with local law enforcement. A Mental Health and Evaluation Specialist performs professional mental health and evaluation work involving the assessment, counseling, and consultation of justice-involved individuals within Community Corrections, jail release, and transitional settings. Provides clinical assessments and consultative input to support treatment planning and continuity of care. Collaborates with probation officers, case managers, and partner staff by offering clinical perspective to support supervision activities. SUPERVISION RECEIVED Works under the intermittent supervision of a Division Commander or designee who assigns work by defining objectives, priorities, and deadlines and receives clinical supervision from a Health and Human services Clinical Supervisor. The supervisor assists with unusual situations and provides clear objectives. Obtain and interpret all relevant assessment information. Determine the client's appropriate level of care and stage of change. Ability to utilize the DSM-5 to assess and diagnose substance use and mental health disorder at time of enrollment. Formulate with the client mutually agreed upon and measurable treatment outcome statements for each need. Identify appropriate strategies for each outcome.
