JOB SUMMARY
Come and spend your summer on the Chattahoochee River at Nantahala Outdoor Center (NOC)! The position of Day Camp Counselor is a great opportunity to work on new technical skill-sets while growing your leadership, supervision, communication and teamwork skills.
NOC Day Camp Counselors work to teach day campers introductory paddle sports skills of kayaks, rafts, and paddleboards and introductory mountain biking skills, as well as facilitate guided trips. Day Camp Counselor applicants must be at least 18 years of age prior to their start date and have current First Aid and CPR certifications. This is a physically demanding position and is classified as summer seasonal. Due to the seasonal demand of our business, we are looking for applicants that are available for a minimum of 3 months and are available to work from mid-May until August 2, 2026. Applicants with shorter availability may still be considered based on hiring needs. This position requires applicants to live in the Atlanta area, no housing is offered. This position runs out of the Roswell (925 (B) Riverside Road, Roswell, GA 30075) and Metro (5450 Interstate N Pkwy, Sandy Springs, GA 30328) NOC outposts and requires employees to commute to the outposts from their home.
Responsibilities
Guide day campers through rapids with while understanding and implementing risk-reduction in navigation, communication, and decision-making.
Teaching children how to paddle and pilot paddleboards, kayaks, canoes, and rafts effectively through varying river conditions.
inform day campers about local area information, other NOC activities and offerings, river, and trip information, and provide supervision.
Provide first class guest service to all campers, before, after, and during their trip, as well as professional guest service to parents during check-in and check-out.
Assist with camper check-in and check-out.
Facilitate activities for participants during down time and transitional times.
Assist in off-the-water tasks, including moving, loading, and unloading equipment, assisting guests, delivering instructional talks, and washing and organizing gear and equipment.

Responsibilities/Duties
Counsel with emphasis on prevention and/or behavior modification with individuals under supervision in the criminal justice system on probation or parole.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in in counseling or a related field from an accredited college or university or certification as an addiction counselor from the Georgia Addiction Counselors Association (GACA) or equivalent certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
One year of experience providing individual and/or group counseling services to clients identified to have substance abuse needs. Experience in facilitating Cognitive Behavior therapy classes. JOB SUMMARY
Come and spend your summer on the Chattahoochee River at Nantahala Outdoor Center (NOC)! The position of Day Camp Counselor is a great opportunity to work on new technical skill-sets while growing your leadership, supervision, communication and teamwork skills.
NOC Day Camp Counselors work to teach day campers introductory paddle sports skills of kayaks, rafts, and paddleboards and introductory mountain biking skills, as well as facilitate guided trips. Day Camp Counselor applicants must be at least 18 years of age prior to their start date and have current First Aid and CPR certifications. This is a physically demanding position and is classified as summer seasonal. Due to the seasonal demand of our business, we are looking for applicants that are available for a minimum of 3 months and are available to work from mid-May until August 2, 2026. Applicants with shorter availability may still be considered based on hiring needs. This position requires applicants to live in the Atlanta area, no housing is offered. This position runs out of the Roswell (925 (B) Riverside Road, Roswell, GA 30075) and Metro (5450 Interstate N Pkwy, Sandy Springs, GA 30328) NOC outposts and requires employees to commute to the outposts from their home.
Responsibilities
Guide day campers through rapids with while understanding and implementing risk-reduction in navigation, communication, and decision-making.
Teaching children how to paddle and pilot paddleboards, kayaks, canoes, and rafts effectively through varying river conditions.
inform day campers about local area information, other NOC activities and offerings, river, and trip information, and provide supervision.
Provide first class guest service to all campers, before, after, and during their trip, as well as professional guest service to parents during check-in and check-out.
Assist with camper check-in and check-out.
Facilitate activities for participants during down time and transitional times.
Assist in off-the-water tasks, including moving, loading, and unloading equipment, assisting guests, delivering instructional talks, and washing and organizing gear and equipment.
Other tasks as assigned based on qualifications.

Basic First Aid & CPR are required prior to beginning work and this certification must be obtained through a classroom setting. (please note, online First Aid & CPR are not acceptable as per our river permit agreements)
Wilderness First Aid or higher is encouraged
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Must be physically capable of maneuvering rafts for the duration of the season both on the water by steering and guiding and on land by carrying and lifting
Applicants should be able to lift 50lbs repetitively
Applicants should be able to ride a bike comfortably
Applicants should be comfortable sitting in raft for long periods of time and standing for long periods of time as well as able to bend, stoop and twist
Applicants should be comfortable working outside in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, rain)
Due to the seasonal nature of this position, hours and schedule will vary from week to week based on business demands
