Job Description: Residential Counselor Position is responsible for the supervision and management of children and/or adolescents with a spectrum of mental health conditions within a therapeutic residential milieu. Additional Job Description: The Advanced Practice Professional (APP) has coordination and clinical skills required for the comprehensive ACCESS and continuity patients in the Healthy Minds Program to provide mental health access to WVU students, (including biological, social and psychological assessments). The APP coordinates involvement of medical/surgical specialty teams necessary to develop a comprehensive plan for the patient, and reviews the plan of care with the other members of the clinical team, participates in directing that care, performs diagnostic/therapeutic procedures, and coordinates ongoing management (as applicable). The APP participates in the education of residents and medical/nursing students. NATURE OF WORK: With supervision, the Residential Assistant functions as a member of the treatment team in a residential extended care treatment setting for adults with a primary diagnosis of substance use disorder, providing the necessary supports and supervision to assist the clients meet their treatment goals. The Residential Assistant has the responsibility to assist in the implementation of a therapeutic residential program to provide crisis stabilization and residential treatment. This includes monitoring and documenting of progress toward individual and program goals, assisting with exercise preparations, insuring that rules of the program are followed and addressed when non-compliance is observed.
