The Summer Ventures Residential Staff is responsible for overseeing the safety and behavior of the Summer Ventures students (ages 16 - 17) in a residential setting. Residential staff must live in the residential hall for the duration of the position. Residential staff will ensure students adhere to their academic schedules and maintain a safe and healthy environment in the residential hall.
Duties include:
* Supervising students during meals, free time, activities, and transitions on campus.
* Enforcement of the student code of conduct.
* Conflict resolution between students.
* Leading and developing evening programming and recreational activities.
* May be required to supervise and document students taking personal medications.
* Communicating with students, parents, and other staff.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

* Promote and facilitate the Student 2 Student program.
* Promote and facilitate the Purple Star School program.
* Consult with military families dealing with a traumatic event to provide resources and support.
* Consult with military families at individual schools that are indirectly related to a military family affected by a traumatic event.
* Provide guidance to school personnel regarding the healthy and emotional development of the military child.
* Conduct individual and group counseling for students of deployed military parents/guardians during a traumatic event.
* Promote the involvement of parents in the education of all military students.

* Provide educational information to parents of military students, as it relates to Onslow County Schools' policies and the public school laws of North Carolina (ex. attendance, promotion and retention standards).
* Work collaboratively with schools to address transitions that can become a challenge for military students (ex. transfer of records).
* Provide support to OCS school-based counselors as needed.
* Provide support to students and staff after critical incidents.
* Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Student Services Director.
