Rescue Rooter® began in 1975 as a family-owned business in California, incorporating the Dandy and Pronto characters into their culture.
Our youth shelter in West Hartford opened in 1978 and has continuously served Hartford-area girls ages 11 to 18 whose lives are in crisis.
In 1989, Reiling and two Houston businessmen formed an investment banking firm named First Financial Alliance Group, which was used to create Republic Waste Industries Inc.
Howry Residential Services began when Mark and Susan Howry made the life-changing decision in 1995 to open their home to adult foster care.
Supported by a well-defined business plan, Reiling formally established GroupMAC on October 24, 1996.
Community Housing Assistance Program (CHAP) - begun in 1996, this program consists of supervised scattered site apartments for DCF committed youth 18 years and older to provide support and guidance in their final steps toward independence.
The family adopted a new senior executive in June 1997, when Reiling relinquished his chairmanship to James P. Norris.
1999: Merger with Building One Services Corporation is announced in November.
The company spent approximately $160 million on acquisitions during the first nine months of 1999, which ignited a more than 100 percent increase in systemwide revenues to an impressive $1.54 billion.

These acquisitions added heating, cooling, and plumbing to their family of services, unified under the name of American Residential Services in 2000.
In 2008 the brand, along with its characters, underwent a design refresh to improve their visual appeal and expand their versatility for the family of brands they now represented in association with the ARS®/Rescue Rooter® Network.
The acquisition of Efficient Attic Services℠ in 2010 introduced insulation, radiant barrier, and ventilation services into the network in several locations across the nation.
2017 brought another refresh to the company image by including the primary brands of ARS and Rescue Rooter, the network, and Dandy.
