What Does A Respiratory Technician Do At Mission Hospital

* Assist your assigned lead person, supervisor, charge nurse and /or Director with various administrative tasks to support department operations as directed.
* Administration of prescribed aerosolized medication per IPPB, small volume nebulizer, large volume nebulizer, ultrasonic nebulizer, small particle generator, aerosol tent, and oxyhood/hut.
* Performs arterial and capillary puncture.
* Performs therapeutic maneuvers such as, but not limited to chest phyical therapy, tracheobronchial aspiration, tracheobronchial aspiration, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and the transport of patients receiving continuous oxygen therapy or mechanical ventilation.
* Sets up, operates and monitors adult, pediatric, and neonatal ventilators, and Bi
* Pap.
* Performs pulmonary function studies, and oxygen saturation.
* Processes respiratory therapy equipment, cleaning, cold sterilizing and packaging.
* Initiates ordering of supplies to ensure proper par levels for equipment and supplies.
* Performs preventative maintenance of Respiratory equipment.
* Sets up, operates and monitors apnea monitor, pulse oximeter, EKG,
* Holter, and Echocardiograms.
* Follows universal precaution requirements.
* Participates in Performance Improvement activities.
* Assumes Supervisor responsibilities in the absence of the Supervisor
* Maintain a minimum of 12 hour work shift
* Maintains accurate billing record for departmental charges.
* Collects and complies data and statistics for department.
* Maintains working knowledge of department programs, policies and procedures.
* Schedules patient testing, (Echo, Holter, EEG, Stress Test, PFT, Respiratory Therapy, ect.).
* Ensures proper delivery of hospital documents to other departments
