Cites AARC guidelines and remains current in the field of Respiratory Care. Demonstrates knowledge of clinical chemistries to include ABGs and basic electrolytes in both adult and geriatric patients. Skillfully establishes and maintains artificial airways in emergencies. Conforms to infection control policies and procedures. Participates in quality improvement projects as requested. Facilitates patient discharge to home and provides patient and family education. Provides clinical assistance in the orientation of new employees and students on clinical rotation. Participates in education programs as requested. Maintains BLS certification. Conforms to departmental and hospital policies and procedures and can readily locate when the need arises. Provides leadership to staff in the absence of the Lead Therapist. Demonstrates the ability to resolve difficult situations with finesse and skill. Ability to prioritize delivery of care when the need arises. Demonstrates good oral and written communication skills and assures all documentation is accurate, legible and in accordance with department policy. Can effectively use hospital information systems skillfully and complies with security-related policies. Plans workload to complete assigned treatments and procedures within AARC time standards. Follows up on all patients transferred out of their assigned units to assure proper handoff and continuation of care. Prepares equipment and participates in the coordination of patient transports both in and outside the hospital. Operates and troubleshoots all equipment in the primary area of responsibility. Administer incentive spirometry to improve lung function and encourage deep breathing after surgery or illness. Provide airway management, including suctioning, endotracheal intubation, and assisting with tracheostomy care. Monitoring and Evaluating Patient Progress: Continuously monitor the effectiveness of respiratory treatments and adjust therapy as necessary based on patient responses. Assess patients for signs of respiratory distress and intervene promptly when complications arise. Track and document patient progress, ensuring treatments are tailored to the patient's evolving needs. Administer resuscitation techniques, such as CPR, defibrillation, and advanced airway management, in emergency situations. Assist with intubation, mechanical ventilation, and weaning from life support when necessary. Patient Education and Support: Educate patients and families on proper use of respiratory equipment, medications, and techniques for managing respiratory conditions at home. Provide guidance on lifestyle changes to improve lung health, such as quitting smoking, controlling asthma triggers, and managing chronic respiratory diseases. Offer instruction on pulmonary rehabilitation exercises to strengthen lung capacity and improve overall physical health. Preferred Qualifications Three years of higher education experience in a technology-based role. Experience with Technolutions Slate CRM. Experience with Banner (SIS). Experience with technical user training to varied user levels. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities KNOWLEDGE Knowledge of integrated institutional/information systems. Ability to collect, interpret, and report on data trends related to enrollment metrics and campaign performance. Understanding of and experience in Technolutions Slate CRM and its applications for enrollment management. Competence in developing and maintaining standardized datasets for ad-hoc reporting needs. Experience in leading cross-functional projects, defining objectives, and coordinating with team members to achieve goals. Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases. Familiarity with change management principles, enabling effective adoption of new technologies and processes within the institution. SKILLS Demonstrated strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. ABILITIES Ability to maintain knowledge of the University policies and procedures related to Augusta University. Ability to maintain knowledge of USG rules and regulations.
