Position Overview

Experience
Recent and related clinical experience preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
Entry-to-practice academic credential in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited Canadian program or a MARRT approved equivalent, if internationally educated, is required.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
Current registration with the MARRT required.

Summary:
The Respiratory Therapist, under the direction of management, is responsible for providing clinical direction and in-services regarding patient care and other respiratory related issues to the facility.
Education:
ACRT or RRT license and a graduate of an AMA approved school for respiratory care.
Licenses/Certification:
Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license in the state employed.

One year of respiratory therapy experience preferred in a long-term care setting.
Job Functions:
Provides respiratory related services for established times or services within the Respiratory Care Practitioner scope of services. This may include testing the patient for qualifying clinical needs, gathering information, completing and/or submitting the information to the facility.

Assess for patient's respiratory needs. Assess oxygen saturation and use of pulse ox. Be able to assess ventilator patients and work with ventilator.
Complete treatment and ventilator check in a timely fashion. Notifies supervisor of any facility concerns or needs.
Completes TARs at the end of each month checking for accurate information.
The ability to assess for decannulation and weaning.
May participate in a wide variety of special projects.
Resolves routine problems and communicates solution to appropriate personnel.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Ability to work independently in a consulting capacity.

What You Bring
You bring a high level of knowledge and competency in performing respiratory therapy procedures. As a Respiratory Therapist, your advanced analytical skills are necessary to solve complex problems and make decisions related to patient care. You demonstrate the interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, patients, visitors, physicians and others. You demonstrate the ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner. As a Respiratory Therapist, you have an understanding of the need to be responsive and reasonably adaptable for scheduling purposes, when necessary, due to extenuating circumstances in support of co-workers and department functions.
Required Qualifications
* Respiratory Therapist license in the state of Michigan required
* Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license in the state of Michigan preferred
* Previous healthcare experience preferred
* Critical Care or Respiratory Diagnostics experience strongly preferred
* BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required

We are looking for a patient focused, compassionate Respiratory Therapist (RT) who provides preventative, diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitative services under the direction of a provider or by protocols.
The RT must have current license in the State of Michigan. We are looking for graduates of accredited programs and/or one year of experience or a combination of both education and experience. The RT must have reliable transportation, a good driving record and will drive in all weather conditions. Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
· Coordinates and performs clinical respiratory services provided to customers.
· Provides appropriate deliveries, set-up, and instruction to clinical respiratory customers.
· Provides plan of service / plan of treatment services to evaluate, assess and meet the customer's needs, goals and requirements and / or appropriateness of service / therapy.
· Markets and promotes the clinical respiratory services of the company to the referral sources and the health care community.
· Coordinates and performs quality assurance and oxygen concentrator maintenance service as described in the maintenance reference manuals.
· Coordinates and performs quality assurance and maintenance services on respiratory therapy items as described in the maintenance reference manuals.
· Delivers and instructs customer and / or caregivers on the proper and safe use of oxygen concentrators, liquid oxygen system, cylinder oxygen system and respiratory items.
· Instructs customers and / or care givers on infection control procedures and are in compliance with internal and external regulations.
· Coordinates and/or completes all equipment maintenance management records as required by the organization.
· Coordinates and assists with obtaining all prescriptions and / or Certificate of Medical Necessity forms required for internal and external policies and regulations and for billing to insurance companies. Conducts or arranges in-service for staff relating to respiratory equipment services.
· Gather any needed customer or insurance information as required.
· Provides on-call services as required by the company.
