Respiratory therapist job in Omaha, NE

Job DescriptionEmbark on a dynamic journey as a Respiratory Therapist in Nebraska, Omaha, where every breath you support helps patients reclaim independence and hope. In this specialty, you'll guide patients through intricate pulmonary care, fine-tune ventilator strategies, and partner with physicians, nurses, and therapists to deliver compassionate, evidence-based therapy. You'll assess respiratory status, tailor interventions, and advocate for best practices in airway clearance, medication administration, and noninvasive support. Imagine the trust you'll earn as you walk with patients through outcomes that matter-improved oxygenation, safer weaning from devices, and stronger returns to daily life. Now picture Nebraska's beauty as your backdrop: the wide blue horizons of the Sandhills, the shimmering Missouri River, and Omaha's thriving urban scene with parks, museums, and dining that complement your demanding days. From Fontenelle Forest's green canopy to the iconic dunes and prairie sunsets, Nebraskan landscapes offer restful escapes between shifts and opportunities to recharge in a state famed for its warmth and space. Location Benefits: Omaha stands as a dynamic hub for healthcare innovation, teaching, and patient-centered care, drawing on a robust network of hospitals, research centers, and community clinics. Your assignments here provide exposure to diverse cases-from acute care and emergency departments to specialized pulmonary rehabilitation programs-while benefiting from the region's affordable living, strong schools, and welcoming neighborhoods. As a travel Respiratory Therapist, you'll also have the opportunity to be deployed across various locations in the United States, broadening your professional perspective and sharpening your clinical skills through different hospital cultures, patient demographics, and care protocols. The travel model is designed to deliver enriching experiences: you'll meet a spectrum of pulmonary conditions, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and gain insight into how different systems approach respiratory management. Throughout your journey, you'll receive 24/7 support from a dedicated travel concierge-an on-call resource ready to assist with housing, transport, credentialing, and any on-site needs-so you can focus on delivering high-quality care with confidence. In addition to clinical growth, you'll enjoy the advantages of Omaha's vibrant arts scene, riverfront dining, and nearby state parks that invite exploration on days off and weekends, enriching your overall experience as a healthcare professional on the move. Role Specifics and Benefits: In this Respiratory Therapist assignment, you'll lead and support therapeutic strategies for patients with acute and chronic respiratory needs. Core responsibilities include performing thorough assessments of respiratory function, adjusting ventilator settings under physician orders, and guiding the weaning process to facilitate safe transitions from invasive or noninvasive support. You'll administer prescribed bronchodilators, mucolytics, and other inhaled therapies, monitor oxygen delivery systems, and manage high-flow nasal cannulae and noninvasive ventilation interfaces. You'll interpret arterial blood gases, collaborate with intensivists and nurses during rounds, and contribute to care plans by documenting progress, outcomes, and response to therapy. Your role also encompasses infection control, device maintenance, troubleshooting of equipment, and providing clear education to patients and families about treatment goals, device use, and home-care considerations. The position supports ongoing professional growth: opportunities to pursue specialty certifications, participate in mentorship programs, and undertake leadership tracks as you gain experience. For those seeking stability within travel assignments, the Guaranteed Hours of 36 per week ensure predictable schedules, while weekly pay ranges from $2,036 to $2,187, with the potential for extensions and longer engagements. A welcome bonus, comprehensive housing assistance, and the chance to extend your contract further enhance the value proposition, making this an attractive path for career advancement. The arrangement also emphasizes a robust support framework, including 24/7 assistance from the company's travel team, credentialing help, orientation, and ongoing compliance resources to ensure you're always ready to deliver exemplary care in any setting. You'll be part of a culture that values curiosity, continuous learning, and teamwork, with access to training modules, peer collaboration, and leadership guidance designed to help you grow from a skilled clinician to a trusted mentor for colleagues and new travelers. You'll find a workplace where your wellbeing matters-from reasonable workloads and safety protocols to debriefing sessions after high-stakes shifts.
